I was thinking about making a thread saying "Panthers Acquire Otah for 7th Round Pick", but this isn't a laughing matter.

FYI... Somebody stole your idea and put it up on twitter. It was well recieved... Unless that was you that posted it.

i don't think they should keep him.

rivera and hurney need to send a clear message to the team that they've already been doing to an extent.

it doesn't matter where you were drafted or how you got here, if you give it everything you've got and you want it...if you work hard then you'll get a chance to show what you can do. however, if you dog it and aren't as hungry as the other guys then you're gone.

I don't think lack of hunger was his problem! badum tiss

But seriously folks. Maybe, just maybe, the fact that we would ship his rear off to NY for a 7th is motivation enough to prove to the front office that he is worthy of keeping around. Maybe this was a good lesson for him.

I am sure up until last week he was thinking.... man, they would never cut a 1st rounder.... Now he knows better. And remember, this is the last year of his contract. He better get his butt into shape or his NFL career is over! Wake up call Jeff. Its now or never

You pretty much took the words out of my mouth...

I seriously doubt this is the case given his current track record, but maybe this experience will be a hell of a reality check for him. He probably thought he could just skate by, half-ass it and collect his paycheck... but now that he sees that he's skating on thin ice with the FO after being traded for a 7th round pick (lol) he'll come back with a fire lit under his ass.

But then again, I doubt it.

Hope for the best and expect the worst, right?

To me, if we tried to trade him then that means we've already given up on him. He should be cut soon.

  • Carolina general manager Marty Hurney said he plans to meet with offensive tackle Jeff Otah on Wednesday. The Panthers previously traded Otah to the New York Jets, but that deal was rescinded after Otah couldn’t pass a physical. The Panthers already were prepared to move on without Otah, and I don’t see them hanging onto him now. It will be tough to find another trade partner now because the fact Otah couldn’t pass a physical was made very public. I think Carolina’s only choice is to release Otah. But we’ll see if Hurney has something up his sleeve.
