2014 standout point guard Joel Berry confirmed to the public on Monday morning that Coach Roy Williams did in-fact offer him a scholarship to attend the University of North Carolina Sunday evening.
Berry is a 6’0″, 185 pound five-star point guard ranked 18th overall in the 2014 recruiting class. Many recruiting experts expect him to move up in the ranking when they are revised in the coming weeks. He has some natural raw talent that fits very well in Williams’ coaching philosophy. He is also a fan favorite in Tar Heel Nation.
Fans have been waiting on this offer for months, and wondered if it would ever happen. Now we can settle down for a while and just wait for Berry to make his decision.
This is the second offer Williams has made to a point guard. The other week UNC made an offer to Tyus Jones another five-star recruit that is ranked 3rd overall.
UNC has a pretty solid 2013 class coming in with more recruits decisions to be in the coming months. The 2014 class overall is shaping up to be the most talented the NCAA has seen in a few years.
As long as Carolina gets one of Tyus Jones or Joel Berry, I will be happy.
