For someone who still records TV shows on VCRs this question may seem seem stupid so please enlighten me. Four high end LEDs shouldn't cost more than 15k, all the other equipment & accessories shouldn't be more than 25k, and the cabinet no more than 5k.

How is that a 100k system?

4x Made to order in USA 55" LED displays, a 9 input video wall controller, the mount system that allows me to pull a single display out a few inches to work on it, the 4 mounts that attach the displays to the bracket that spaces them vertically, installation, programming it to the whole-house control system & markup... Bam! $100k+...

really cool, the cross hatch running through the screen would drive me f*cking insane.

at that pricepoint, why not a high end projector and simplify everything?

Really, after watchin it for a few minutes, you dont see the crosshatch unless youre lookin at it...

Simplifying was the point, everything here is a with a projector I would have need to find a Quadplexer & a Matrix switcher that would work well together, and work from my control system. And we were beyond wiring for a projector when he approached me about this. And my clients words were "I want the 'wow factor'. Im only doing this once.."

Like I said above, the image to image gap is 5.3mm or 1/4in. I dare you to find any displays that have even that, let alone smaller. The bezel around your TV is about what? An inch, maybe more? This are not a display you just go buy. It is made when you order it, took about 12 weeks to get it from when I ordered it...

Why has no one made fun of Murph for having AND still using a VCR to record his shows on? :)

How is that ancient piece of machinery still alive? Do they still make blank tapes??

For those interested about the lack of modern technology in my home here are a few stories.

As DVDs took over in the late 90's many of my family and friends made the conversions. Some remembered that I had a pretty large VCR tape collection and so they offered me their used machines. So as one breaks down I have replaced them. I am down to only two left now which is how many TVs I have in my house. The Mrs and I still like to pull out our old tapes and watch them (which is the only way we can since we don't have netflix or any other way of getting movies right now except to buy them).

Several years ago I went to Walmart looking for blank tapes and blew a clerks mind when I asked for some. He pointed to the very top shelf at one pack left. I found some rolling stairs to get me up there to snag them. Yes, they had some dust on them. I still have not dug into that pack. Instead I have been recording over older tapes that I recorded TV shows on back in the early 90's.. until they wear out. In many cases I will rewatch whatever I originally recorded and it is interesting to see episodes of X-Files, Fraiser, Homicide, Simpsons & other stuff with the original commercials.

Anyway MPF, stay off my lawn!

I was digging through some old VHS tapes that belonged to my folks last Christmas and found and found a recorded copy of Rudolph the Red-Nosed reindeer.... Figured it'd be cool to watch and maybe see some of the old commercials too. Popped it in and somehow it had the audio from Eddie Murphy's "raw" dubbed over the Rudolph video. Was awkward with the kids for a whole sec
