Also havent even messed with a hexcore yet... that'll be the next one I build. I wanna do a hexcore with 32 GB ram for our next workstation to see how it compares to our current setups.
As a side note, how does win7 home compare to pro?

i have little experience with windows 7 so far. be my first win7 machine.
there are 8 core intels out too, at like 2k a processor
the hexcores are still minimum 500$ a processor
i'd much rather have pro. i may track down an upgrade deal sometime in the future. first upgrade will be a 2tb HD

win 7 is....better than vista. way better than vista. so i think i'll be ok with it. windows 8 is gonna be garbage though.
which is why steam is making a push for linux. and if i can play all of my games on linux, i'll convert

yeah i'm currently running xp pro on a 2.4 ghz dual core amd with an overclocked gt 240...so this thing is gonna be a huge step up. i may start dabbling in music production again.

Yeah Vista sucked bad... Win7 is great with a few minor exceptions... Win8 looks like it has the potential to really suck... idk why MS has the tendency to do that kind of thing with every other version.
I meant to ask psc, how did u find this rig, just looking thru newegg or was it a special?

That's what Ive got in my current rig and dude I cant tell you how stupid fast games run. I can go from a cold machine to fully up logged into WoW and online on Mumble in under 90 seconds.
Other than that its pretty nice.

the power supplies in cyberpowerpc and ibuypower are trash though, that's why i ordered the corsair 750w to go with it

Id put a pair of SSDs in it. One for the OS and one for Games.
