Matt Moore's football uniform number 17 was retired Friday night before host Hart (Newhall, Calif.) shut out Saugus (Calif.) 35-0.

Currently a quarterback for the Miami Dolphins, Moore had a magical senior year. He completed 66 percent of his passes (234-353) for 3,334 yards and 33 touchdowns while leading Hart to a 13-0 record and the Southern Section Division III championship in 2001. He also ran for 415 yards and seven touchdowns. He later was named CIF-Southern Section Division III Offensive Player of the Year.

As a junior, he starred at safety, making 80 tackles and 10 interceptions.

He attended UCLA and Oregon State and played for the Dallas Cowboys and Carolina Panthers before joining the Dolphins.

Moore's a great guy. Nice to see him accomplish so much from humble beginnings. Hopefully he'll resurface as a starting QB in the NFL again in the future.

I wonder if he would be better at Safety than Godfrey or Naka?

Always liked Matt Moore, and when I met him, liked him even more. Just a really good dude. I wish him nothing but success in the future whether it be football related or not.

whatever happened to TRD? did that guy finally realize to do something was his life other than troll Panthers message boards, or has he migrated to a Dolphins message board, claiming that Tannehill isn't the answer there either
