Andy Dalton is coming off a rock solid rookie season in which he lead his team to the playoffs.
This season Dalton is ranked 12th in NFL passer rating and has played well, yet is openly being challenged by his coach to step-up and take charge as a leader...
Wow. No sophomore slump, kid is playing well and his coach wants MORE...
And wants it NOW...

http://news.cincinnati.com/article/20121031/COL03/310310045/Doc-jerk-Dalton-what-Bengals-need-I'm a Reds fan, so I follow Cincy sports. It seems like none of the local media has an explanation for Marvin's spur of the moment reaction/quote about his QB. Paul Daugherty, one of the best media guys out there (who just happens to be a Cincinnati guy) doesn't understand Marvin Lewis' quote or why he would say that. Red has a lot to learn, but he is a winning QB and deserves better.

i understand exactly what lewis wants. time for red to take some of that fire out his hair and lite up his teammates with it.
honestly, i don't think he has it in him.

Kinda took some brass for Lewis to say it.
He must believe Dalton will respond positively or he would not have spoken.
The Panthers could sure use a little brass from somwhere right now...
