Ok. So you realize they have a reason not to vote Republican, and that it largely makes sense.

I was basically starting the conversation about victims. This with the Dems is their whole voting base.

do you really believe this?

Maybe not all victims, but they do have the green folks, gay and lesbian, black, hispanic, etc. They have to cater to all of them and it is quite a feat. Blacks and Hispanics are generally conservative in many ways, but the Dems juggle gay marriage without losing their votes. How do they do this? Generally by aiming at others.

You are correct. The Lee Atwater/Willie Horton thing was to get votes by scaring folks. I was basically starting the conversation about victims. This with the Dems is their whole voting base. The Dems are made up of many groups, all who get reminded "every" election just how Pubs will put them back in chains or some such nonsense.

No clean hands in politics, never said that, just that the Pubs are not the devil as Dems portray them. They need all the different groups to believe it though.

The party of Bill Clinton and Ted Kennedy need women to beleive that Pubs have a war on women.....and they get applauded. The party of David Duke and Robert Byrd need you to beleive that Pubs want blacks to go back on the plantation.

It is politics, dirty politics and both sides try to manipulate. All I was doing was mentioning to a former marine that he has the power to go beyond the petty politics, especially since for 60 years, the Dems talk a big game, but in the end accomplish very little for the black community.

I guess I would say that the difference to me is this:

The Willie Horton ad was bullshit.

Obama birther stuff is bullshit.

Obama is an anti-colonial who hates America because of long lost desire to please his African father... is bullshit.

The idea that Obama is a socialist is bullshit.

The inuendo of "Born in America" and "Take our country back" is bullshit.

Compare that to the fact that Republicans had in their official party platform that they wanted to get rid of abortion with no exceptions.

Romney said in the primary he would get rid of FEMA.

George Bush actually attempted to privatize social security

Paul Ryan's own budget wants to turn Medicare into a voucher program.

Republicans say they want to overturn Obamacare keeping people with pre-existing conditions to not be able to get coverage or pay for coverage for the care that they need to survive.

Mitt Romey said he would de-fund Planned Parenthood.

Romney said he wanted to make the lives of immigrants so bad they would self deport our country.

Romney said that 47% of this country has no sense of personal responsibility.

That Republicans have put into place voter restrictions (like voter ID laws) specifically designed to target minorities and take their right to vote away from them

The point is, the things that are scaring these so called "victims" aren't what Democrats are saying about Republicans. it is what is coming out of Republicans own fugging mouths.

If you watched the elections, you'd realize that talking down to minorities and insulting them is honestly how the Republicans think they can win them over.

Oh, and offering a token minority on the ticket every now and again. (see stirs earlier posts to see how it baffles them when people don't fall for it).

This is not at all a racist comment, but keep up the good work. It is a fact that although blacks have given homage to Dems forever, they get stuck with the worst schools, very few opportunities to excel, bad policies for families and basically little chance to succeed. Thus the poor comment. Not racist at all.

Underacheiving based on the rest of society. Who could acheive when saddled with the circumstances they have been given.

You are guilty of being one of the oppressors when you continually run and yell racist, therefore negating any points or ideas. This is exactly what the Dems have been doing for 60 years and I thank you for making my point.

We live in an area predominately farmers and military. We have African-American neighbors all around our subdivision. 3 houses down from me is an African-American Prinicple at a local elementary school. The local high school prinicple has a doctorates degree and is African-American. So I ask - why does this school which is administered by a very successful African-American, and not within the city limits of any city - why does this school have a 52% drop out rate of young black males?

Its obviously not under-funded, not in a ghetto, not being led by idiots. My asian-american children are sitting right there in the same classrooms with the same teachers and are excelling.

I'm just a little tired of hearing that blacks don't get the same opportunities as others - it was true 40-50 years ago, but is not true today.

The answer has to be elsewhere - maybe family? My wife and I both work - but we always found time to be involved with our childrens school assignments, homework, making sure they studied for exams.....etc.

We raised 5 kids, 3 have gone to college and the last 2 graduate HS this year. All have been taught the importance of being responsible for yourself, your actions and to not rely on the government to solve your problems and take care of you. You want to rise up - it starts with YOU standing up.

Well damn, according to King Taharqa, Republicans abandon their "foot soldiers". Damned if you do, damned it you don't.
