You know we sound like old fuddy duddies saying stuff like that, but we have a "modern rock" channel here in ILM... and I'd say out of every 10 new songs they play, I like probably 1.

Most of the "new" music they play is like a bad 80's throwback... and I love 80's music.

This thread is good because it has some non-mainstream stuff...

I was kidding really. I've discovered tons of music from my XM subscription.

MPF, 95.1, really? :P

I wasn't... :)

Some of the new stuff I really like... but some of it is absolute garbage. I mean, music's always been that way, but it boggles my mind how some of it gets airtime.

The state of "music" in this country can be best defined by the AMA "Artist of the Year" winner Justin Bieber.

Are you fugging kidding me?

What are those awards based on? Album sales and $$$, or actual musical talent?

This is pulled from a newspaper article....

"American Music Awards nominees were selected based on sales and airplay, and fans chose the winners by voting online. The 40th-anniversary broadcast from the Nokia Theater in Los Angeles featured a tribute to Dick Clark, its creator."

"I didn't know lip syncing and autotuning were criteria for award winning..."
"The American Music Awards are officially a joke..."
"Not surprised... over processed crap is everywhere on the American landscape these days..."
