Pretty useless QB unless he has some accuracy

Add accuracy to the mix and you'd have Peyton and Eli Manning!

I'm not sure that it has ever been done before.

Peyton stands a good chance at BOTH the MVP and Comeback Player of the Year awards this year!

Next 5 years Cam Newton has the highest ceiling as a complete package. Now with that out the way......

Between RG3 and Luck, Bob is statistically superior.

The biggest argument that everyone has for Luck being the ROY is that his team has 8 wins to RG3's 6. I think the wins total is moot given ROY Cam Newton had 6 wins to Andy Dalton's 9 wins.

Going back to the wins, Andrew Luck is most similar statistically to none other than the beloved Tim Teblow. Andrew Luck of course is far superior in terms of the overall QB package and ceiling but looking at the statistics, Luck is closer to The Golden Calf of Bristol than he is to RG3. It's a known fact that a lot of The Golden Calf of Bristol's comeback wins were a product of his ineffectiveness in the first three quarters. The same could be said for Andrew Luck.

Luck has a 76.1 QB Rating - 55.5% Accuracy - 7.15 Y/A (2012)

The Golden Calf of Bristol had 72.9 QB Rating - 46.5% Accuracy - 6.38 Y/A (2011)

Compare those two to RG3?

RG3 has a 104.4 QB Rating - 67.1% Accuracy - 8.19 Y/A (2012)

Wins? Let's go back to wins. Statistically, RG3 is more instrumental to winning games than Luck has been. In games won by Luck and RG3, here is the line:

Luck in 8 Wins - 12 Touchdowns – 7 Interceptions – 85.5 QB Rating in Wins – 59% Completion

RG3 in 6 Wins – 12 Touchdowns – 2 Interceptions – 121.1 QB Ratings in Wins – 75.03% Completion

To answer the initial OP, the order would be Cam, RG3, Luck then Wilson.

you can't seriously be comparing luck to The Golden Calf of Bristol... luck already has as many TDs and more yards than The Golden Calf of Bristol has in his entire career... they are nothing at all alike. They don't have similar games, they don't have similar states, their projected ceilings are nothing at all alike... meh.

I'd be happy with RGIII, Luck, or Cam, and I'm perfectly happy with Cam being our QB. He's having a down year, but he shows week in and week out he still has it, and at times he seems to be actually showing the leadership on the sideline people knocked him for so much.

I did compare them for the sake of the come from behind wins argument. And statistically, there is no denying that their numbers are closer to each other than Luck and RG3's.

As far as throwing for more yards and TD's for their careers, that is due to the high volume of passes Luck is throwing. If Cam and RG3 threw the same amount of passes that Andrew Luck has so far this season, Their numbers at this point in time would be (Cam) 4,154 yards and (RG3) 4,119 yards.

EDIT: I already said that Luck is a different QB from The Golden Calf of Bristol, obviously in different classes. I'm just comparing them statistically.

The Golden Calf of Bristol was brought up in response to disregarding Cam's superior stats in favor of focusing on wins. It was pointed out that Luck has a very similar win/loss as The Golden Calf of Bristol. That's valid.

Luck has thrown for literally twice the yardage The Golden Calf of Bristol had in 2011, has more touchdowns in fewer games, has 10% higher completion percentage, and 1 ypa more. You can not make anything resembling a legitimate comparison between the two. The only thing The Golden Calf of Bristol did that well was avoid interceptions.

On the other hand, Luck has more yards than RG3 and has the wins thing. I think RG3's stats are more impressive this year, but Luck's are also pretty good, and the wins will quite possibly push him over. Just going off their stats in wins is also not a good measurement of how much a QB contributed to a win, either. You can make an argument for RG3 having better stats than Luck without bothering with The Golden Calf of Bristol, so why bother? I have no idea which of the two will win ROY, but I think that we won't be sure of that until closer to the end of the season, but I do know that bringing The Golden Calf of Bristol into this argument is ridiculous.

NFL Total QBR

RG3 at # 4 with a 73.6

Andrew Luck at #6 with a 71.6

Russel Wilson #11 with a 65.3

Andy Dalton #16 with a 58.3

Ryan Tannehil #20 with a 49.7

Cam Newton #21 with a 49.5

Last year Cam was 17 with a 65.8. Cam's pass EPA and run EPA last year were 65.8 and 24.7 which, running wise was double the next best guy. This season its a 36 and a 17.1. You know who shockingly is the most efficient QB runner in the league? Andrew Luck with a 22.2 to lead the NFL.

Guys... Cam is in a slump. You are blaming the coaches. Players make plays. He is having a down year. It will be ok. Do we need to trash other teams QBs because of it, or blame our coaches? Do you think every play called last year was a good call? What about the bombs to Smitty at the beginning of the season where the coverage was god awful. Was that just a good playcall that Cam would have missed if it wasn't called? Or, was it Cam and Smitty making a play?

You can't have it both ways.

are you seriously going to sit here and argue that the read option lunacy we were subjected to for half of this season should be disregarded as a factor in cam's "slump".
