As a critic of Rivera, I believe he deserves one more year

Here's an interesting fact I saw on NFL.com's Lions suck article.

9 of these 11 teams went on to have 10+ (all of them at least .500) win seasons in year 3. On that note I don't see why we don't give rivera a shot, especially since the team haven't given up on him yet.

Granted with only 3 of those teams having winning seasons in Year 4 gives us reason to despair.

Nah, I want him gone...I see no progression from last year except the defense, which still isn't good enough IMO. Some of these more recent wins were against teams shooting themselves in the foot, or back up QBs. The Falcons were playing like poo, why wouldn't they, they're already in. Excuses aside, two years and two drafts with a franchise QB in place is a lot of time. Cam can learn and I think a third losing year with the same coaching staff will be all that Cam needs to determine this FO is worthless in finding poeple who can win. Then re-signing won't be a clear cut choice.

JR will not fire Rivera is we start losing again. This is my main issue keeping Rivera, JR holds on much too long, and money influences his decisions as well. Another losing season with the same staff will be 10x worse than with a new one, and could set Cam back another year. You have to be sure Rivera can pull it out next year, it has to be a must or we lose a year of teaching Cam wha he needs to know and we also lose Cam's interest in staying here. I don't see Cam staying where he can't win, I just don't see it.

Have no problem keeping Rivera until next year but the problem is I know that will likley mean keeping him that whole year no matter what.

What's going to happen is we keep Rivera, we'll end up keeping him longer than expected

Around this time next year we'll be going through the same process. We might ease in as a wildcard, but get put out

Get a coach that you feel, honestly truly feel will lead us to the SB

It seems the only reason our "offensive" offensive approach was changed was because JR had a "Come to Jesus" meeting with Ron after Marty was terminated half way into the season.

Ron did not show any intention of changing his approach prior to that event.

Ron is also missing in action when it comes to in game decisions.

He demonstrates a lack of ability to recognize and react as quickly as opposing coaches to mismatches on the field of play.

A Field General, he is not.

What has he done that makes anyone believe this guy can lead us to the promised land?

I am going to wait until the end of the year before I decide if I want him back or not. Because I, like a lot of fans, change my mind after every game.

Would like to see us finish strong, but if we poo the bed these last two games I will be on the fire him bandwagon. If we play like we have the last several game (sans the KC game) I will be more open to giving him the first half of next season.

After thinking about the way the season has gone and so many Sundays, I felt like watching the cooking network the following Sunday so I can learn some cookie recipes so I can bake a batch for Santa. Send those cookies and say all I want for Christmas is a new head coach. The past games have changed my mind to limbo but the more I think about it, this is how I feel our next season will turn out if Ron stays on board. Posted Image

I just don't want to get excited another year but if he wins the next 2 games, I might change my mind. New Orleans may still have something to play for so if we can ruin their play off chances then things will definitely look up. If we can't ruin play off runs then f it.
