Very good question, but it happens all the time. I'm a little reluctant to let a 39 year old run the Panthers, but fortunately I don't get a vote.

I think young coaches can be good, but business experience can't replicated without actual business experience. Just my two cents.

In fairness, DeCosta is only two years older.

Most of the other guys are in their late forties with the exception of Gettleman who's over 60.

I guess you have to look at "age" vs "experience".

By the sounds of it DeCosta isn't going anywhere. Gettleman is too old.

Short list gets shorter.

Don't know if this was posted anywhere else, but Patty Y was at it again today with this gem on his weekly Friday chat.

JM (Charlotte ): Have you heard who is being considered in the panthers gm search?

Pat Yasinskas: Dave Gettleman is the one name I keep hearing. But I've also been told not to be surprised if they make interim GM Brandon Beane the permanent GM.

Probably "told" by Beane's agent.

of all the possibilities I would only put the chances of it being Beane at 10%

I think you're being generous.

maybe a little, but with Pete Y at least I would have to give it some merit more then 0 or 1% which I would otherwise, considering who the writer is I'd give it a solid 10% chance just on that.

Adam Caplan mentions Falcon Director of Player personnel David Caldwell as a name that's likely to get a lot of attention in GM circles. He doesn't specifically mention us, though.

Thank you Mr. Scot, as always a very informative and well put together thread. You will have a bust in Huddle-Canton when all is said and done. Right next to Zod's Codpiece and across from Fiz's sense of self-entitlement.

Thank you again Mr. Scot for your research.
