So with the season upon us, what do you guys think the line combos will be?
Originally with Ruutu I figured the top line would be E. Staal - J. Staal - Semin, but with Ruutu out I think Jordan will have to center the second line.

Tlusty - Staal 12 - Semin
Skinner -Staal 11 - LaRose
Bowman - Jokinen - Dwyer
I really don't know how they will split up the lines. The only thing I ask is that Staal, Staal, and Jussi be our 3 Cs.
I heard something about Rutherford bringing in another FA winger (or through a trade) since Ruutu is out.

Yeah JR said he was looking to bring in a winger with some grit for the third or fourth line

Still think they try out the Staal brother's and Semin line. Don't know how they would form the second line though if that's the first. Unless they play Skinner at Center....

Gotta believe the Staal's and Semin would at least be used on the PP. Looks like with Ruutu gone we're gonna struggle with depth. I'm sure we're going to get a lot of looks at Checkers which isn't anything new. (Welsh, Sutter, Dalpe maybe Nash) Should be interesting to see if maybe we bring someone in. There was talk of Minnesota trying to unload Cullen or Setoguchi depending on the cap situation?

At this point I would take Cullen to provide depth for the Canes.

Jokinen - E.Staal - A.Semin
Skinner - J.Staal - LaRose
Nodl - Brent - Samson
Dwyer - Tlusty - Stewart
Gleason - Faulk
Pitkanen - Corvo
Harrison - McBain
Ward
Peters
I think the team looks pretty weak. Not enough good forward depth. Too many 4th liners and backups that are playing up to the 3rd line. Jordan can't play with Eric. That would make our lines even worse. We got to think about what's best for the team instead of having a family reunion. Tlusty is also listed as a center so I'd like him to get more time there and keep Jokinen at wing where he is much better. We also didn't do much to improve the terrible defense from last season. Im not expecting much.

The only real weakness I see is our checking. There's not a lot of size apart from Stewart and the Staals. With Ruutu gone our physicality is going to suffer. I don't see us throwing the body around enough to force people off the puck. Possession is going to suffer.

The team is planning on bringing someone in to play on the third line. Also don't be surprised to see Welsh get the one of the center spots on line 3 or 4.

I like Welsh, he has pretty good size and throws his body around pretty well. If he can stay out of the penalty box, he'll be fine.

I mean compare our team to some of the greater teams. We plug in guys that would be scratches on other teams to play up to the 3rd line and sometimes 2nd. We need at least 2 really good forwards and another physical defenseman.

I wonder what type of trade they are looking at to fill out the 3rd line, the team said they were looking for a trade for a 3rd liner to add more grit to the team in the pc. Yes, right now the 3rd line doesn't look too good, but lets see what the team does and how that looks on the 19th when the season opens.
Might also see more of Murphy this season as well depending on how well he looks at camp.
