When they were in the house again, the disciples asked Jesus about this. He answered, "Anyone who divorces his wife and marries another woman commits adultery against her. And if she divorces her husband and marries another man, she commits adultery." (Mark 10:10–12)

"And when you pray, do not be like the hypocrites, for they love to pray standing in the synagogues and on the street corners to be seen by men. I tell you the truth, they have received their reward in full. But when you pray, go into your room, close the door and pray to your Father, who is unseen. Then your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you." (Matthew 6:5–6)


Some laws from Leviticus that are overlooked, while one is SO fuging IMPORTANT THAT YOU HAVE TO OBSESS OVER IT OR YOU'RE NOT A CHRISTFAG

Chapter 19 is a grab bag of laws:


Verse 19: "Do not mate different kinds of animals. Do not plant your fields with two kinds of seed. Do not wear clothing woven of two kinds of material."


Verse 27: "Do not cut the hair at the sides of your head or clip off the edges of your beard."


Verse 28: "Do not . . . put tattoo marks on yourselves."


Verse 32: "Rise in the presence of the aged, show respect for the elderly. . . ."


Similarly, chapter 20 offers a variety of sins and punishments. Among them:


Verse 6: "I will set my face against the person who turns to mediums and spiritists to prostitute himself by following them, and I will cut him off from his people."


Verse 9: "If anyone curses his father or mother, he must be put to death. He has cursed his father or mother, and his blood will be on his own head."


Verse 10: "If a man commits adultery with another man's wife—with the wife of his neighbor—both the adulterer and the adulteress must be put to death."


Verse 11: "If a man sleeps with his father's wife, he has dishonored his father. Both the man and the woman must be put to death; their blood will be on their own heads."


Verse 13: "If a man lies with a man as one lies with a woman, both of them have done what is detestable. They must be put to death; their blood will be on their own heads."


This is why you're a hypocrite. You ignore hundreds of other laws in Leviticus, but you put that one on tshirts and wear it around like a fuging human thumb.

Return to the Law = Return to Slavery to Sin

If we measure ourselves as Christians by how well we follow the Law, we have returned to our slavery to sin. We are then measuring ourselves, “justifying” ourselves, by evaluating our behavior by the Law. For usreligious folks, this is precisely what is meant by “a dog returning to its own vomit” (Proverbs 26:11; II Peter 2:22). And if we put other Christians under the Law, we are subjecting them to the very yoke of slavery Paul warned them about. We force them to return to their own vomit as well.

If you insist that other people observe the Law, then you are burdening people “again by a yoke of slavery,” which makes you a slave master. When people resist your attempt to place them under the Law, they are acting in accordance with the urging of Paul, “Do not let yourselves be burdened again by a yoke of slavery.”

Stop burdening people with a yoke of slavery.

But if you are led by the Spirit, you are not under law. (Galatians 5:18).

tb. here's the deal. if you say anything to the contrary of someone being gay, it means automatically you are going to be called a bigot.
you can disagree with it on whatever level you want. biblically or physiologically, financially whatev. you will be labled a bigot.

one group talks a big game about inclusion or diversity or tolerance but oh good God don't disagree with them.

i avoid talking bible in the tinderbox because it is without a doubt the most fruitless thing you can do. not worth bandwidth or effort.

as the fellas say in the RUSH song Subdivision - "conform or be cast out". well, thats what happens here.


So you used Subdivisions as support for being religious??! are you Paul Ryan thinking the GOP are the rebellious party?!

" Conform or be cast out" is the Whole basis of Christianity as you are handed a letter to CHANGE your lifestyle because it does not conform to another persons holy doctrine.

right, but the point is people use that verse in leviticus all the time to justify their views while simultaneously listening to sermons about how were are no longer under the law but under grace

anyway the entire point here is that it's ridiculous to try to mandate religious law over america especially when it comes to doctrines and beliefs that are already highly contested within the religion itself. anyone who's studied the church's long history of taking silly positions on human rights issues over the past two thousand years should be able to see the wisdom in taking a laissez faire approach to legislating these sorts of things

Debates concerning the finer points of Christianity are nothing but a smokescreen. People focus on the issue of homosexuality (instead of the equally damning sins of adultery, divorce, and hate) because it is convenient. It doesn't actually matter what the Bible says. People can and will twist the Bible to suit their own ends (people and pastors did this when slavery was legal; and the catholic church was strangely silent when Hitler was killing Jews left and right). Humans seem to be in love with the "them vs us" dynamic and any other dynamic that allows for the justifiable bullying of a segment of the population.

i brought this up multiple times during the amendment one fiasco and caught a lot of flak for making people feel uncomfortable with the fact that they were willing to legislate banning teh gays from getting married but realized they would never actively campaign to end legal divorce since the baptist church demographically has the highest divorce rate in the country

My argument isn't who is or isn't a bigot. My point is if someone is unwilling to engage the bigot in a meaningful convo then that doesn't move the ball forward. So some guys resorted to name calling or said they won't associate with the bigot. To me that is as equally dumb as being a bigot.
Its just as self righteous as writing the letter. Imo.

to me there is nothing more contrary to the goal of educating someone than declaring them unworthy of attention and companionship because of their belief systems when the one thing that may save them is exposure to outside thoughts and alternative belief systems.

Umm no, effeminate means having more feminine traits untypical of a male. Not homosexual. It very well could refer to any male who is overly vain or refined, a male to female transgendered person, etc. It most definitely does not, with 100% certainty, mean homosexual except in your own head.

After all, a homosexual can be very masculine and not the least bit effeminate.
