Wonder if they are waiting on someone still in the playoffs
I doubt someone would do a lateral move from a playoff team to Carolina. Unless they were just like an offensive assistant, in which case I'm cool.
Maybe an Officer and a Gettleman is watching tape with Rivera nonstop to try and find the right fit.

Whisenhunt hasn't been granted an interview?
No confirmation they're interested. Speculation from Joe Person but that's it.
Les Bowen of the Philadelphia Daily News believes he'll be named the new OC for the Broncos shortly.

Wonder if they are waiting on someone still in the playoffs
Did a little digging on 49er QB Coach Geep Chryst and re-learned something I had forgotten.
Chryst was on the coaching staff (specifically, offensive quality control coach) of the Chicago Bears from 1991 through 1995. Ron Rivera's Bears career lasted through 1992. There's at least the possibility they're acquainted, though they wouldn't likely have worked together.
If the name sounds familiar to you, it should. Chryst was a member of John Fox's coaching staff in Carolina from 2006 to 2010 (quality control, tight ends).
Speculation is that Chryst will join former Panther colleague Mike McCoy as the OC in San Diego.
If we're waiting for anyone in the playoffs, I suppose it could be him. It's a bit of a stretch though.

i would be surprised if there was much more done by then. thats probably where they will be talking to people. The Senior Bowl is in 9 days. It'd sure be nice if Mr. Rivera would get his staff in place before that..

Ivan Fears, the Patriots receiver coach, was the Bears WR during the 97 and 98 seasons. Rivera was with the Bears as a defensive quality control guy. Fears is a 35 year coaching vet who's coached every facet of offense except tight ends but has never been an OC.
Again, it's a shoestring. I doubt he's a candidate.

I don't really think that's the hold up. Could be, but it doesn't make all that much sense.
