That Portland pick, if the draft was held today, would be a lottery pick (#14). Not sure if I want to give that up for a one and half year rental on Gasol who looks like his tank may be running dry.

Now, if we can replace Diop with Tyrus, then hell yes! Getting rid of TT is worth giving up a 1st round pick.

Gasol would be a great fit and Gordon could excel in Lakers offense. The only question is what pick we wouldhave to give up

Gasol is 32 - 33 in July

Gasol is starting to look more and more unappealing as I research the trade..

Honestly there's only about 4 legit players in this draft (and they will all go top 4 lol) So I wouldn't mind doing this and I'm pretty sure that we would do our best to extend Gasol's contract as soon as he got to the Charlotte

This isn't a rumor at all, this was Bonnell just throwing an idea out there. He even said that we haven't talked to L.A. about a trade.

Doubtful anything like this goes down (Lakers wouldn't do it imo), but it would definitely help the Bobcats. It wouldn't make them even an average team yet so they'd still be set for a very high draft pick, but it would help a lot combined with the draft and a pickup or 2 in free agency.

Kemba
Hendo
MKG
Biz
Gasol

ntb (Gasol would have to play C -- think Haywood, but slower)

2 thoughts here.....he would have to agree to a longer contract with us, and a reasonable one. I know no one
wants to come to Charlotte, but if he could see what we're building, perhaps.

second, we're on track to get the first pick, and right now the only sure thing I see is McLemore. I'd hate to see us
start winning games and end up with the 6th pick for a guy who might play 1.5 years for us

Dont really get the point of Gasol on this roster. If the bobcats made this trade wouldnt Gasol just be on the trade block for the remainder of his contract? I cant imagine he wants to spend the remaining years of his prime on a lottery team

Yeah I wouldn't necessarily pull the trigger on the deal if I am the Bobcats (or the Lakers for that matter), but it does make some sense (for both teams). I'm not sure that getting Pau would disrupt the chance of getting a top 3 pick as we'd still be pretty bad, but it would help our development and give us a #1 scoring option for the time being. I'd just assume keep being terrible for a year, draft Shabazz or Noel and then draft Wiggins the next year :)
