What is a legal reason without probable cause?

We had a case recently here where someone was suspected of theft and the vehicle on campus was searched, with probable cause, for stolen property. A weapon was found in the vehicle and a charge of possession on school property was filed.

That's my point, though. Smart people don't give people probable cause to search their vehicle.

I understand what you're saying, but I'm just saying it can happen, and it doesn't have to be that you're stupid enough to tell somebody or show somebody. It's the same as with any contraband ... you can keep it locked up and never get caught ... until for some reason, you are found out and charged.
