Would you want the panthers to bring him in as a backup for Cam?

why not? hes not a cancer to the locker room he's just a guy that didn't understand the massive amount of dedication that goes to the quarterback position and ultimately failed. He has god given talent but lacks dedication. he seems to of gained that dedication needed to be successful. i wouldn't mind bringing him in and letting him show if he has anything in the preseason, cut him and let the other teams decide if he's worth pursuing.

Never thought i would be defending Jamarcus russell but the guy is trying and i respect that.

I personally don't have an opinion on the guy just wanted to see if you would want him here. People a lot of the time will be big on a guy with a past history of trouble but not for their team. So was just curious if you fell into that camp; you don't so cool.

Agreed... Don't know if it'll be this season or not but as long as he continues to work and show he's dedicated he should have no problem getting picked up

It's nice and a great story, but two months is only two months. 40 lbs. from 315 for an NFL quarterback still puts him at 275 which is entirely too much for a QB in this league. He has to keep working and get down to the 230-240 range, regain a bit of mobility with that weight, and go play football somewhere. He's not at the point in his career where being a backup is going to help him. Regardless of where he decides to play, he has to get some snaps. That is the second biggest obstacle he has to overcome. I don't care if it's in the CFL or what... he needs some throwing reps and some footage for teams to evaluate with his new attitude and outlook. It will be important that he doesn't give up if he escapes camp without a contract.

Sadly, I think the only team in the league that would take a flier on him is the Raiders, we all know that ship has sailed.

ill root for him, the only disdain I ever had for him was that Cam was compared to him before the draft.

Gotta tryout with the Bears!  Man, I really hope he impresses and makes the team.  I know it's a slim chance, but I'll really be rooting for him.  Would love to see him get another opportunity.
