With a strong combine and proday he will be gone by 14. His stock is on the rise.

WR's with his explosiveness and playmaking ability typically go in the top 10.

Cam just keeps getting better and better. The way he played in the 2nd half of the season was pretty amazing. The streak of consecutive passes without an INT was fantastic, etc.

Assuming Cam continues to play at such a high level, and our Defense led by Luke continues to play at a high level, we are probably not going to be seeing anymore top 10 draft picks.

Thus, drafting Patterson may be our best chance of getting Cam a very good #1 WR to grow with. I hope we can make it happen.

Word is Miami are trying to sign Wallace and Jennings. Plus they could also bring Hartline back. Dont see them taking CP if they do this.

Aside from Miami... what other teams ahead of us would probably take Patterson? Jets?

I think the Jets are the most likely out of anyone to try and take him.

It's possible that someone like the Browns (now that there is going to be a vertical passing game), the Lions (who just let Titus Young go, and will be looking for a young receiver to complement Megatron), and maybe the Titans if they can't find another WR.

I would say the Bills.

Cam needs another vet to throw to, not a rookie. no time to groom a #2. this is the make or break season for carolina. they fail, poo gets blown up. Sign a FA WR. Draft BPA regardless of position.

Someone could trade up or the Jets or the BIlls... here's all the team ahead of us

1. Chiefs
2. Jaguars
3. Raiders
4. Eagles
5. Lions
6. Browns
7. Cardinals
8. Bills
9. Jets
10. Titans
11. Chargers
12. Dolphins
13. Buccaneers

The Rams, Seahawks, and Vikings could use another WR so they could trade up

I think as much as I want Patterson on our team it is just not going to happen because he is going top ten.

Going to have to let go of this possibility and settle for someone else in the first. :(

Honestly for a while I was an advocate of drafting almost every other need besides WR early. I even made a lengthy thread highlighting why I believed the Panthers wouldn't select a receiver in the first two rounds.

However, Patterson possesses all the natural talent you can't teach. He has an elusiveness and vision in the open field that reminds me of Chris Johnson. He hits the hole on kick and punt returns at full speed and is a threat to go the distance every time the ball is in his hands. He makes the first tackler miss almost every time and often the second pursuer just ends up looking silly trying to bring him down. He brings the ability to run out of the backfield and add even more wrinkles to account for and a defense cannot possibly ignore him.

He is raw from a receiving standpoint. His routes are pretty sloppy and he lets the ball get into his body too often when catching. However, these things can all be coached up and improved upon fairly quickly. I trust Ricky Proehl to develop Cordarrelle and watching 89 for a year or two would be beneficial for his development.

Patterson's upside is through the roof. At this stage in his career we need to begin to build around Cam Newton because the offense and this team's success goes as Cam does. I do not think he will go top 10...if he makes it by Miami I believe we will pull the trigger assuming he tears up the combine as I suspect he will.
[/quote]as much as i am on the pattersonwagon, i wouldn't trade up for him or anyone in this draft.
