Alex Smith Traded To The Chiefs (How This Could Effect The Panthers Draft)

It will be funny when Alex is in the exact same situation in KC as he was in SF. Maybe Chiefs brought Smith here because he attracts competition that will take his job in an efficient amount of time.

And what if Charles goes down again? Or if any key injuries occur on defense?

By having Alex Smith as your QB you are banking on him playing not to lose, and relying more on your defense and running game.

The only reason I have such an opinion on this is that my friend is a chiefs fan, which is rare in Maine. And as a Carolina fan myself, the poo talking is always back and forth.

Mmmmm...sweet ammunition for trash talk :)

I don't what the fuss is in here.

I thought I was a good trade for both parties.

Alex Smith have been playing well the last two seasons. A lot of that is bc of Harbaugh but Andy Reid is a QB guru. Watch Alex thrive in his system. Chiefs just got a lot better!

Just goes to show you how quickly things turn around. The 49ers had a decade of futility hovering around 7-9 and now they've go a solid, young team and are a perennial playoff team with draft picks and no cap issues. We could get there one day.

When JR is willing to open his purse to a good coach like the 49ers did we will. They learned the hard way and it seems so will we.

If I were a Chiefs fan I would be breaking things right now.

Maybe this means we'll end up getting a 3rd or 4th for Clausen.

Whoa! Hold up here

Point being Moore can do the job. Alex Smith is just a stopgap for the Chiefs. Their will be 1 or 2 qb's out this draft in the later rounds that will become good starters in the league.

Moore is a stop gap.

If Andy didn't think Alex can "win now", he'd never trade for him. Alex would be in a similar situation in KC as he was in SF. A game manager. KC will try to sign Bowe and they have Jamaal who Alex can give the ball to 20x a game. KC also has a very good Defense. Alex give Reid the best chance to win and imo they got him for helluva deal.

Wow.

Tom Brady v. Alex Smith.

What is YOUR point?

Obviously you saw the tree but missed the forest if you think my comment is comparing Brady to Smith from a talent perspective. Quarterbacks don't decline at 30 in fact many are their most productive in their 30s. Most quarterbacks don't really understand what they are doing until their mid to late 20s. Like many huddlers you have to have it spelled it for you which is why I made my sig.

The Smith bashing really shows how little people here know about how Smith was doing when he got injured. His stats for 2012 show he started 9 games and during that time he completed 70% of his passes, had 13 Tds versus 5 Ints and had a passer rating of 104. They were even better numbers than last year when he started 16 games, completed 61% of his passes, had 17 TDs to 5 Ints and a passer rating of 91.

He was the best option out there in free agency by far. He will likely end up more successful that any quarterback in this draft class.
