no comparison unless Smitty tore his Achilles or is coming off of multiple ACL surgeries.Remember that time Thomas Davis and Beason didn't think we needed to draft another LB?
How'd that work out?

As far as not drafting a WR....name a player that advocates drafting someone at his position. Before Steve got Cam he was ready for help...now help just steals touches

He makes a good point about Hurney.

If you heard the rest of the interview you would understand what he was talking about.
Somebody called the radio show and was dogging Lafell (like some of you do here) . Steve said the WR's corp wasn't the reason for the slow start on offense. He said Chud was calling plays like he had last years Oline. He said he lafell Olsen and Murphy would be running wide open but the Oline couldn't block for the play and Cam would be in survival mode. He felt like their was a disconnect from Chud and the roster. He also said that Gross had a lot on his shoulder trying to cover up for Amini who was swimming at the beginning of the year. Smith didn't understand why people were talking down on Gross.

Didn't he call Murphy last year to encourage him to come here. Smith is not selfish anymore. He knows his time is coming to an end. He would welcome more guys to compete against. When has Smitty ever backed down from competition. He makes a good point about Hurney.

Okay.
That doesn't speak against the fact position player don't advocate drafting their postion.
I agree with all that.

Dwan is bad against the run.I'm not gonna lie, getting a guy who can get pressure up the middle every play will make our defense/team LOADS better... BUT, Dwan kind of did that last year, so if we retain him, I'm not really looking at DL with the first pick. If Edwards is retained, Safety, CB, and OL are all much bigger needs, but I prefer to take Patterson if he's there at 14 b/c his talent is just too good to pass up.

Well, that's kind of my point. Dwan is a great pass rusher, so drafting another "explosive" UT would be kind of redundant as they are typically geared more towards pass rushing. I'd prefer to sign a guy who is already proven in both in the pass and running game to complement Dwan rather than draft a clone.Dwan is bad against the run.

Maybe they want a younger UT and will look at FA for a older NT.
