i think he was talking about the secondary

Well, we lost our #1 CB, nickel CB....and S play has been horrific under Rivera. Our 2 starters out of 5 in place are both average at best

Anyone mention that Boldin is 32 years old? Do we need another guy who will be gone in a few years or someone who we use for the next 10 years? We are not one receiver away from the Superbowl so Boldin would have been a huge waste of money.

Yeah, the time for Boldin was a few years ago.....when he signed with the Ravens. We need youth at WR now.

By competent do you mean the luck of the head coaches being brothers?

Any team in the league would make that trade given the opportunity, not every team is give that opportunity. It has nothing to do with the competency of the Panthers front office.

No, by competent I mean giving up a little to get a really good player (albeit an older player) at a position of need. It's not about 1 trade between to brothers.

Seems like everyone wants to get rid of Bolden on the cheap.

49ers gets Boldin.
Ravens get a token 6th and 6 million in cap space.

win/win.

Plus, he is sent to the NFC so the ravens will not risk meeting him tvice in 2013 as was possible if he was cut.

Trade makes sense from this point of view as well:

1. Ravens just gave Flacco a deal that indicates he is a top 3 QB
2. A top 3 QB should get by with lesser receivers
3. Boldin and his $6M cap hit is expendible

Logic is obvious for the Ravens.

Only problem is, Flacco is not a top 3 QB...
