don't be mad at the movie or the people that made it.

be mad at yourself for going to see it.

also i have a historic bridge in NYC i can sell you for pennies on the dollar. otherwise the city is going to demolish it.

Wait a sec. Someone thought it'd be good?

My bad didn't mean to give the impression I actually payed to see it. Nah i watched it online for free. However i'm not so mad at the story as just Mila Kunis for destroying my favorite villan. She sounded absolutely terrible just looked like an absolute moron trying to do the part and I will be forever pissed at her for that pathetic excuse for the wicked witch of the west.

You're my boy and all, but the Wicked Witch of the West is your favorite villain of all time?

FTR....I never liked Wizard of Oz to begin with to be honest.

When I was a kid I was pretty poor and only had a few vhs tapes and that was one of them. I watched it everyday before bed and as I grew older I began to appreciate what a movie made in the 30/40s had accomplished looking better than most movies that were made 30 years later so it made me like it even more. And that laugh from Margaret Hamilton (actress for WWoW) was so good. It's almost like comparing jack nicholson to heath ledger. I prefer the goofy laugh to the evil laugh so his bothered me as well but his was actually good despite that. Kunis was just terrible all around. Also they didn't have the bad ass chant the WWotW army had in the old one.

30 seconds for the chant

I think a lot of that was copywritten by MGM and Disney couldn't use them...but they of course went ahead with the movie anyway. lol

i watched it with my son for the hell of it, and yeah it was pretty bad, but one thing i noticed is, it's basicly Army Of Darkness for kids...

...possible SPOILERS...

-Ash and Oz are selfish, handsome, womanizing, working class folk who are sucked into a vortex and end up in a strange new land.
-Both “fall from the heavens” in a vessel (Ash crashes on in with a car, Oz blows in on a hot air balloon.)
-Both are thought to be the savior by the people of a strange land who are getting face-raped by evil magic.
-Both are sent through the dark woods leading to an eerie cemetery where they must obtain an item (Ash needs the Necronomicon, Oz needs the Wicked Witch’s wand). Instead they end up attracting more evil.
-Both love interests end up transforming into hideous witches.
-Both overcome their shortcomings and train the noble people of the land to fight and defend against the evil magic.
-Both inspire the quaint village folk with a speech and introduce the people to “modern” technology (i.e.: gunpowder). Both beautifully rendered via montage.
-Both feature an epic battle at a castle.
-Good triumphs over evil with help of modern technology.

People look for ways to be disappointed nowadays. It wasn't awful. It's not going to win an Oscar, but it was entertaining. As far as the cast goes, Franco's MO as an actor is a little awkward for me. Must be the way he contorts his face, smiles, etc...but it doesn't come off as genuine or with ease as say a Heath Ledger or a Johnny Depp (who has his own peculiarities...but it sells). Mila Kunis was ok...I think the other bad witch was the best cast witch of the lot. As for the movie as a whole...it was ok. I liked the black/white to color shift like the original. We have to also consider the language used in the time period it was put and how it would translate to today. Something we easily look over when our own self importance seems to override something as simple as just sitting and enjoying a movie.

Ah, it wasn't that bad. Didn't blow me away - pardon the pun - but I thought it was decent.

It actually made me want to read all of the Baum "Oz" books.

as i recall, the books are really great... though I haven't read all of them.

I loved the movie. It was some BADDD acting, especially with the background civilians. But, overall not a bad movie. I'd watch it again.
