Gross's new contract voids in 2014. OT now moves up priority list

Who actually is able to void this contract? Never heard of a contract that the employer is set to void when its signed, kind of defeats the purpose of signing one. What happens if he retires before February?

The question is, is the 3rd best OT better than the 2nd best WR? Or CB? Or the top 1 or 2 safety?

BPA!!!!!!!!!!

This thought process is ridiculous. You don't pass up a ten to twelve year starter at LT because you have a 33 year old one for another year or two. You draft Lane Johnson play him at RT for a year and then move Jordan out to RT next year if he's still here....

you have your opinion and I have mine. I don't see drafting a left tackle then playing them right then switching them over next year. Unless, he is the bpa and well rounded. There are other needs and a first round pick shouldn't be a project.

That's the thing, the Offensive Tackles we would take at 14 would be by far the BPA on the board. There's a reason all three have a legitimate shot to go in the top seven picks. Also you say you don't see us drafting a LT then playing him at RT and moving him to LT down the road....the problem with this is A LOT of teams do this, the most recent example being Johnathan Martin moving to LT for Miami this year. Also, you can always play Johnson (I'm just using his name because he's the only one who would be there at 14) at LT and move Gross to RT. Really not an uncommon concept, nor is it a waste of a draft pick in any stretch of the imagination. You build a winning team by getting the best players you can. Lane Johnson is a better NFL prospect then Richardson/Allen/Patterson/Hankins etc etc, and Left Tackle is far from a position that we should feel contempt or satisfied with. Finally how is a guy who can come in day one and start on just about any team in the NFL a project? That's what you're getting with Joeckel/Fisher/Johnson. A player who can come in and be your starter either at LT or RT from day one, and be your franchise LT for the next ten to twelve years....

After knowing the details of the new contract, i don't feel gross's future is any different it was a month ago.

He's now much more affordable to retain over the.next two seasons.

We'll draft his replacement, whuch he'll mentor, and.me may even retain him at rt afterwards if we don't have a better option.

if we go o line first round I'd rather it be a guard on either side. I understand that you build for the future but now those 2 are ok, now the guard position is a different story on both sides. I'd rather pick up a tackle later and see if he will he that guy. I know the 98 Broncos had mainly mid round talent and won a sb so objecting to a later pick is possible and that's why those picks are there.

I completely disagree with this. We have a 33 year old LT who is starting to have trouble with speed rushers, and we have a RT who is serviceable (nothing more nothing less). That's far from o.k. OG is not a premium position and should not be addressed with a top 15 pick. We would be much better using some of the money created today to go out and sign a stop gap at OG in Free Agency, and then draft a guy like Hugh Thornton later in the draft who can be a quality starter in a year or two. I'm sorry but when you have questions at both Tackle positions you just can't pass up a top seven prospect falling into your lap because you're serviceable at that position. Now if Star or Milliner were sitting there with Johnson I would absolutely pass him up, but not for a prospect who is a good bit further down a big board....

From what I watched Gross had a tough time early but he got better but I remember seeing amini struggle all season as well as Geoff. Bell looked good sometimes but his head was on a swivel checking his left. Personally, I want a safety, slb or a nose tackle with the first round. If a ot is there and that guy then sounds like a good idea but right now we have bigger fish to fry.

Sure when, I know on third and longs the boys we have we give up the big one. I've seen the same thing for years now and the fact we have a division full of premium tight ends we need the security to stop them on third down and get off the field. Our boys were tired all year in the 4th quarter because they played extended time on 3rd downs when most teams would've been off the field. I don't know about you but I don't like seeing my safety come down to check a tight end in cover 1.
