Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell’s reelection campaign asked the FBI and the U.S. Attorney’s Office on Tuesday to investigate how a magazine obtained a recording of a February strategy session.
“Senator McConnell’s campaign is working with the FBI and has notified the local U.S. Attorney in Louisville, per FBI request, about these recordings,” McConnell campaign manager Jesse Benton said in a statement. “Obviously a recording device of some kind was placed in Senator McConnell’s campaign office without consent. By whom and how that was accomplished will presumably will be the subject of a criminal investigation.”

On Tuesday morning, Mother Jones, a liberal magazine, published an audio recording of McConnell staffers discussing opposition research they could use against actress Ashley Judd, who was considering running against veteran senator. In an earlier statement, the McConnell campaign accused “the Left” of using “Nixonian tactics” and bugging the campaign’s headquarters

Eh, this isn't a big deal unless it's proven some outsider planted a recording device. For all we know, it could have been one of McConnell's staffers.

And I still LOL every time I read this: "Every since the 47% video during the 2012 election campaign, liberals feel emboldened to do whatever it takes. FOR THE CAUSE!"

That's really rich. Good stuff.

Not to beat a dead horse but.....

The 47% video has way more stuff on it than catering to the rich and speaking of half the population as surfs and begging peasants. It was a honest "who I am video"

If you listen to it with a Mein komph filter to it I have heard these same conversations with some former friends who became skinheads in the 80's.

My fave part of the video has the glowing explination of a sweatshop that Bain purchased in China. Barb wire..120 women to a bathroom-Shower(hole in floor and waterhose) Keeping women out of the factory bc so many people want to break into a prision a work long hours for little pay.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vwcSROff--I

There should be a "CAUSE" to expose all these politicians that lack basic empathy and understanding of humanity. Look at the NC out of control Repubs that will help turn NC blue in the next elections. Basically proposing laws that only civil war reenacters and snake dancers would even blush at.. It took a viral video to expose a disconnected man for who he is.

Single person notification is allowed in some states...but not if it's third party.

If it's someone IN the office, it's legal. Maybe a bunch of republicans should simply pose as liberals and infiltrate and record every detail of every campaign management meeting. Sounds like a good idea.

FBI will find out if it's 3rd party or someone from the office.

As for the Romney comment, candidates make comments all the time within the confidence of "no cameras/no reporters" luncheons. What Romney said was stupid and had absolutely no worth. Obama claimed a bunch of people were bitter clingers to bibles and gun, but that didn't get quite the mileage. Because he's Mr. Entertainment Tonight.

I saw it as more Obama didn't frame it in a way that said he would ignore them if president.

Both Obama and Romney were at least partially correct when they said these things. But brutal honesty is usually a bad thing for a politician.
