KT made a thread in the news/updates section of the forum about the mods tolerant behavior when it comes to racism directed towards blacks in general (football players and forum posters). The thread mentioned is here: http://www.carolinah...ver-ban-people/

It was locked rather quickly, at least in my opinion, and zod asked that the conversation take place here in the tinderbox. I'd like for that conversation to continue. I'd also like for actual examples of said racism, of any kind, to be presented. If its as common as previously explained it shouldn't take more than a few minutes to quote and post. No blanket accusations with finger pointing. Back it up.

I'm interested to hear things as well. Racism should not be tolerated and I personally think the mods have done a pretty good job with that. I would also like to see actual quotes instead of innuendo and supposition.

Edit: I thought about posting that same gif kurb... I'm sure this will get out of control in about +/- 2 pages.

He alluded to the 2011 draft and Cam several times in that thread. I remember some of the arguments. What I remember is some people parroting sports media - Cam can't break down a defense, doesn't work hard, etc.

I quit reading those threads at the time because they were so repetitive. There may have been some underlying racism involved. But being skeptical of a QB with a year of starting major college football was understandable at the time.

I know I did get tired of hearing other black QBs names mentioned in comparison. I said Cam compares best to Steve Young or Big Ben. In that aspect, I can understand someone taking the arguments as racist.

I really wish folks would just turn a blind eye to both obvious and underlying tones of racism. Most of the idiots who post this crap are just looking to get a rise out of folks, and in my opinion have no life and are bored. Don't entertain them!

You could call me any number of derogatory caucasian terms, tell me my penis is "white small" (sadly, this is probably true), and call my family members nasty names all you'd like to. It won't bother me in the least, and in fact, I'd sit and have a beer with you. They're just words guys... are you really going to let someone else affect your daily life so easily with a bunch of stupid words? Why??

For the guys hurling the insults, veiled or not, again why? Is your life so empty that you feel the need to discriminate and rile just to feel anything? Stop.. just stop. It's pathetic.

In the end, we're all Panthers fans (well, most of us.. sorry Hawk). Why do you want to hurt your family like that? It just doesn't make sense to me.. and I am not a stupid person by any means. If I don't like how someone acts, I ignore them. It's that simple.. try it out, you may like it.

unfortunately Raskle, not everyone has the same thoughts or tolerance as you.  Some members feel they are targeted and victimized and I think this would be a great opportunity for them to address the rest of the huddle with their concerns, hopefully backed with some real examples as the OP mentioned.

Fair enough Hawk... I can see a get it of their chest moment here, but only if backed by examples. The real problem is though, that when said examples are presented, it could lead to a meltdown of "He said, She said" arguments. If the folks being quoted feel attacked, they're going to defend themselves, which is not the point.

Whether you mean it or not, if someone feels you are acting a certain way, try not to take it immediately as a personal attack, but as a differing viewpoint of how you feel you represent yourself. What you mean may not come across as what you intend, and by the same token, what the offended person read may not be what the writer intended. If something strikes you as odd.. ask first before unleashing venom.

Again, just my thoughts on this.. feel free to tell me to gtfo or whatever. Just trying to help keep this from being a complete lava pit.

There are some heavily closeted and even some somewhat openly racist people that post here. They've really adjusted their craft, if they know what they're doing, and somewhat successfully veil their racism most of the time. Some of the people probably don't even know their feelings are interpreted as racist. Sometimes those interpretations are valid and sometimes I think it is a byproduct of the oversensitive society we live in.

I won't call names and I won't dig through pages of examples, but the accusations aren't totally unfounded in my opinion. Overstated by some people, maybe.

I'll flag the hell out of anything I see as blatantly racist.

Part of the problem here is the division of people's political beliefs. There is a contingent of the Huddle who is hard-line conservative and aren't afraid to demonstrate it constantly. There is also the polar opposite. When these two sides start really going at it is when it has a tendency to go down that road.

As for KT, I believe he is now the victim of his own huddle history. As was alluded to in the other thread, he seemingly cried wolf so much that nobody cares to hear him cry anymore. No, that isn't fair to him, but I don't feel it is completely unjustified. IIRC I even told KT once, way back in the day, that I was "blacker" than him and that was probably the shittiest thing I've ever said to anyone here and genuinely feel bad for my immaturity and diarrhea of the keystrokes at the time. But people change, and I feel like I've matured a lot since those old days. In fact, I pretty much hate most white people... well pretty much all people... but I realize that ultimately we're all in the same sinking ship so it is best to be as civil as possible when discussing difference of opinions...

I agree with lots of people here on different issues, and it can be totally awkward when it is someone I generally don't agree with on something that is giving me pie or rep or even agreeing with me. That's a different argument than this fight, I suppose, but for the most part I agree with the sentiment that there are some racists here. Black and white.

That said, I don't think there is anything we can do about it other than ignore them.

good words to live by again Raskle.  I am thinking this thread will go nowhere because quite often it is human nature to avoid direct conflict when given the opportunity to do so.
