Marc-Andre Bergeron, who is set to become an unrestricted free agent in July, may return to Carolina if his salary expectations are reasonable.Canes GM Jim Rutherford, who acquired Bergeron from Tampa in March, would like to have him back. Bergeron had a calming influence on the Hurricane power play and as long as his contract demands are modest, his chances of playing in Carolina are pretty good. That said, it will be a late signing if he returns. Bergeron, along with fellow UFAs Dan Ellis and Joe Corvo are expected to test the free agent market, at least initially.
That defense is way better than the one we were putting on the ice last year.
