Johnson and Kraken on top 25 pass rushers list

22 posts in this topic

I don't like any pass rush list that starts with an OLB. 3-4s just aren't the standard. It's like putting D-Will or Ronnie Brown in the QB group because of the wild cat. Oh well I'll take my chance with CJ and Hardy knocking on a lot of doors come September.

This is really intriguing front 4.  I believe Kraken said a couple days ago in an interview.  It's 5 again 4.  Three of this guys are going to be one on one.  Throw in a blitz and it gets really interesting.  Means a RB is going to have to stay in to help which takes one less receiver into the pattern.

If these guys get the press we hope.  QBs won't be able to sit back and pick us apart like they have in the past.

CJ and Kraken could have a monster year.

Anybody know what the record is for Tandems?

Ask Matt Ryan. He's taken a few tandems lately.

I honestly think they should be higher. Guess it'll take this year to prove how good they can be with actual interior lineman.

I think it is fair.  Johnson did not statistically have that great of a year last year, and Hardy is still up and coming and has not shown us all he can do yet (we hope).

bruce irvin is higher than hardy and cj?

chris long before allen and peppers?

the fug

Irvin is a second string player,  8 sacks for a second string is rahter impressive.

He may not be better but at least as good as CJ & Hardy.

Based on numbers, Clay Matthews is vastly overrated. Charles Johnson's statistics should place him in the top 5.

Here are the total sacks and forced fumbles of the top 15 in the past 2 years

Von Miller                 - 30 - 8
Clay Matthews          - 19 - 4
Cameron Wake        - 23.5 - 3
Terrell Suggs           - 16 - 7
Demarcus Ware       - 31 7
Aldon Smith              - 33.5 - 5
Jason Pierre Paul     - 23 - 3

Chris Long                - 24.5 - 1
Jared Allen                - 34 - 5
Julius Peppers          - 22.5 - 4
Mario Williams           -15.5 - 5

Bruce Irvin                 - 8 - 1
Lamarr Woodley        - 13 - 1
Charles Johnson       - 21.0 - 8
Chandler Jones         - 6 - 3

I'm surprised we're regarded that highly. I think everyone whining about it should stop complaining and remember how likely it is that they would've left both of our guys off the list.

With that said, Clay Matthews and Cameron Wake at #2 & #3??? Lol.

this is a list of the top edge-rushers, not top pass-rushers. bruce irvin is a one dimensional speed rusher. i don't believe he can play the run.

    • Can't forget Greg Olsen.
    • Speaking of a lack of experience at CB last year... Here is a sneak peak of the side-by-side post-draft roster comparisons I'm working on, position by position.  I happened to start tonight with CB. Here's what our roster looked like at CB on May 1 last year vs. May 1 this year (UDFAs excluded).    Obviously we didn't know who our starting CBs would be in 2016, especially since we quickly released Boykin, one of the only experienced corners on the roster at the time...  But going with the trio of Benwikere / Bradberry / Worley, among them, only 6 NFL starts, compared with 104 starts for the trio of Bradberry, Munnerlyn & Worley!  NO true veteran leader of the CBs in 2016.  What a difference a year makes.  Huge to get Captain back.  May he ball out and help us get a ring! Anything else strike you all about this comparison, or anything you would like me to add / change in terms of the presentation? I hope to be able to post new positions each day in the coming week.  Maybe 2 positions per day....
