I am not sure how many people have seen this, or haven't... I searched the forums and didn't see a thread title that I thought contained this content... so here goes.

To provide a safer environment for the public and significantly expedite fan entry into stadiums, NFL teams will implement an NFL policy this year that limits the size and type of bags that may be brought into stadiums.

The NFL Committee on Stadium Security in May unanimously recommended the implementation of this measure that will enhance public safety and make it easier for fans to gain access to all stadiums.

The NFL strongly encourages fans to not bring any type of bags, but outlined today what is permissible. Beginning with preseason games, fans will be able to carry the following style and size bag, package, or container at stadium plaza areas, stadium gates, or when approaching queue lines of fans awaiting entry into the stadium:

  • Bags that are clear plastic, vinyl or PVC and do not exceed 12” x 6” x 12.” (Official NFL team logo clear plastic tote bags will be available through club merchandise outlets or at nflshop.com/allclear), or
  • One-gallon clear plastic freezer bag (Ziploc bag or similar).

  • Small clutch bags, approximately the size of a hand, with or without a handle or strap can be taken into the stadium with one of the clear plastic bags.
  • An exception will be made for medically necessary items after proper inspection at a gate designated for this purpose.

Prohibited items include, but are not limited to: purses larger than a clutch bag, coolers, briefcases, backpacks, fanny packs, cinch bags, seat cushions, luggage of any kind, computer bags and camera bags or any bag larger than the permissible size.

This is the perfect bag...err environment...err cover for their money grab.

Just another reason to watch the game in the comfort of my own crib, or at the local sports bar.

I normally bring my camera, but I guess I'll have to bring a clear back in the clear bag to cover my camera just in case it rains... cuz the $$$ I spent on that bag to carry it in to keep it safe and protected from water just isn't safe.

Yeah! I when I read that, I was surprised as anything! They gave those away before I thought, and people use them all the time. Now they can't bring them?

the people that don't know about this change are going to be pissed come the first preseason game!!

I never bring a bag. But back in the day the rules were similar. I remember having to leave a backpack in a garbage can outside the stadium.

I have been to many stadiums who do not let you bring anything in. The Panthers have been pretty liberal with bags, and bringing stuff inside. They even let you bring in bottles of water, as long as they were sealed. I wont be surprised if now this all changes some. I don't bring anything in anyway, unless its extra cloths and stuff for any cold days, and maybe a bottle of water or two.
