There are plenty of good hotels in Spartanburg, and we have a great downtown. Is it Greenville? No, but we have our own charm. Lots of great restaurants downtown.

fair - didnt mean to sound like i was pooping on Sparty; i've never spent much time there outside of Wofford's practice fields, since I had a place to sleep right down 85.

I like it when people say this like its a good thing but the rest of it equate it to calling yourself a douchebag.

One night is fine. Try the Pizza Inn. It's a 1984 time warp.

The Pizza Inn lunch buffet is magnificent.  The chocolate chip pizza will give you a mouthgasm.

We've got much better pizza places than Pizza Inn ... yuck!

Let me know what kind of food you're interested in, and I'll tell you the best place(s) in Spartanburg to get it. As close to camp as possible.

I need a place to take 3 adults and 2 children. No long lines or packed joints. Just some nice food and quiet.

What kind of food are you interested in?

We like everything. But kid friendly is key.

A few suggestions:

Billy D's (S. Pine St.)

Wild Ace Pizza (downtown -- has outdoor seating)

Groucho's (downtown -- sandwiches)

Venus Pie (downtown -- pizza, calzones. Looks like a dump, but good food)

Mellow Mushroom (downtown east)

Apollo's (west side - about 10 minutes from camp. Italian and Greek)

The Clock (west side)

Jake's Wayback Burgers (west side)

Farmer's Table (downtown - locavore restaurant)

Basil's Grille (near camp, across Pine Street)

Corona's (near camp, across Pine Street. Mexican)

Wade's (near camp, across Pine Street. Meat and three - can get crowded, depending on the time of day)

...and if a player doesn't sign for you, don't act like an entitled spoiled little brat.

It's okay to be disappointed, it's not okay to have a meltdown unless you are under the age of 12.

Once again it is time to get a first look at our Carolina Panthers.

Their practice schedule is listed here...

Here are a few tips you won't read on the Panthers official webpage....

- Autographs are given before and after practices. Line up at the fence near the athletic buildings about an hour before the scheduled practice. Not all players will sign. Some of the regulars that will sign most of the time are Steve Smith, Jon Beason, Jordan Gross, and Deangelo Williams. Ron RIvera will also usually sign.

- Kids are given priority during autograph time, as they should be. If you are an adult trying to push aside a child you will be called out and shamed for it.

- When you first arrive, look for the video cameras at the top of the large blue lifts. Whichever field they are pointing at will be the field that sees most of the action that day. Pick your spot accordingly.

- Bug spray, bug spray, bug spray, bug.... spray.

- If you visit the Beacon restaurant, be sure to say "a plenty" after your order to ensure maximum heart clogging damage

- Cameras are allowed, but video cameras are not. You may be asked to put them down.

- If it seems like players are ignoring you and your screams at them during practice, its because they are. They are there to work, not to listen to your opinions.

- Shade is at a premium. Get there early to grab a spot under one of the trees on the hill.

I've had my camera the past two years and no one has said anything.

If you are constantly holding up your camera/phone without taking it down (like you would taking pictures), they will get the idea and approach you.
