So, how worried should we be about Sean Mcdermott?

I hope he leaves. A Rivera, Wilkes combo would be deadly.

McDorm is a good D coordinator, but Wilkes would be better.

truth.

We're kinda putting the cart before the horse.  McDermott is a good DC. He's young.  With success will come looks.  Nothing you can possibly do about that.

beat me to the point.

Fellas, if we are going to be a competitive team consistently, we gotta get used to seeing coaches come and go. I know its Taboo having a coach leave not via firing, but its going to be OK. No need to worry.

We have a great football mind up top. He will get the "jab" done.

Also, lets not exaggerate. Last year.

# 10 in yards per game
#18 in points against
#16 in ypc against
#32 completion % against

People are taking that total yards number and running a little too much with it. We weren't a top 8 D....in any way. Overall, we weren't really a top 10 D.

We pressured the QB like an elite D last year.....we weren't an elite D yet though

You are my favorite poster.  Just when I'm ready to feel good about something I get nervous and then BAM!! CRA to the fuggin rescue!  After a quick read I'm nice and comfy back in the depths of despair and malcontent.  Thank you sir, thank you.

Important thing is to built a stout defense, then whomever may take over will have the tools needed to continue on. If you have the right man in control to bring in the talent and keep it here, then a good part of the battle is won. I think D.G is the right guy to do this.

lol...D showed great improvement last year. Pass rush was fantastic. LB play was great.

Bc I point out people shouldn't proclaim us a top 8 D last year.....and weren't, even if you use only yardage? That is some defensive slam?

Nah, not at all.  This one wasnt even that bad.

I don't think anyone here would equate last years defense to Baltimore or Pittsburgh or even Cinci.  However, there is this little thing called confidence.  We have a little of it and its starting to puuurrrrrmiate the fanbase.  It should be nurtured and encouraged.

Most of us feel that last year, while not the greatest season, was at least a building block that had numerous positives to build off of.  So if we use our 1(one, only, solitary) top 10 reference, let it be.  No need to douse cold water on an all ready waterlogged alley cat.

I think that this defense is probably more Rivera/personnel than it is McDermott.

I think our defense is going to be pretty good this year, but our defense was not that good last year.

I know I know. Total yards and points per game were ranked pretty high last year. I still don't think they played that well or as well as they are going to this year if everyone stays healthy.

Also Rivera knows his poo on defense so if McDermott leaves I trust him to make a good pick up

I hope our defense is good enough this year for him to be considered for head coaching spots, but he is a couple years away if it ever happens
