CRA, just stop. You're overracting... like usual.

Any competent football fan knows that talent and coaching is only half the battle. The other half is chemistry and experience. Go to the full post

Last year, our RBs looked average....that was b/c of weak OL play. Why was our O inconstant last year? Not Cam...OL play.

Did we go out and address this foundational flaw? No. A name change at RG but we essentially are the same.

Does the problem look the same? Let see...

Through 2 preason games....stud RB Williams is averaging a whooping 2.8 yards per carry. Blown up in the backfield each week. Our stud DL isn't blowing up RBs in the backfield with the same type consistancy as we are receiving. Just further evidence of how outmatched our OL is...and we haven't even been practicing against great DLs.

No point bitching about Cam, RBs not earning their checks, Rivera or Shula this year. Either DG is going to give us an OL to compete or he isn't. We don't need pro bowlers to improve....we have the cash and the bodies will be there at cuts.

Going into this season I think most fans agree that the O-line and secondary are lacking in talent. The O-line's run blocking needs to be more consistent, and we can't afford to lose yards on run plays. We need to vary the snap count more to keep opposing D-lines from firing off so well.

It doesn't help matters that we have two rookie DTs in our D-line rotation.

Cam needs a good running game to take some of the pressure off. I would think some better run blocking O-linemen will be available after the second round of cuts.

They practice against a stellar D-Line every day and even though it was a make shift O-line we still where # 9 in rushing. I am betting my money that by week 1 that Kugbila & William will solve our RG problem.

The only real concern I think we have is depth at RT

Where exactly are all these instant upgrades that are going to work for a hometown discount or vet minimum?  Sure we can pull names out of a hat like Wharton but I don't think he is an instant upgrade.  We got rid of him once already and it wasn't just cap room, he wasn't that good in the pass game.

Look at Brandon Moore who everyone on here was clamoring for.  He didn't get a deal and retired.  There are other teams out there with a bigger need for O line help than ours.  Why are they not signing Wharton or Moore or half a dozen names everyone pulls out of the air as the magic fix. Gettleman is a scout by trade and he isn't excited about who is out there so he isn't pulling the string on a bunch of long in the tooth vets.

He will pick up a guy or two after final cuts.  I am just not convinced they will be better than what we already have.  Our starters now are likely our starters in the regular season..

Wharton is better than Williams all day everyday and twice on Sunday.

Cam skews are rushing numbers...which is why we were 9th. He was our leading rusher. He makes it look on paper much better

I am talking about the traditional rush attack and what the RBs can do.

If you look at talent, potential, cost and all factors, Williams is the better choice if you are looking at this year and the future.  Williams has the potential to start and play well. He just needs game experience.

It doesn't take much to improve out G and RT play. You don't have to sign a pro bowler to get a noticeable upgrade.

Wharton isn't that good anymore.....sadly, he likely is an instant upgrade for the season.

Gettlemen is a scout by trade....that doesn't mean he is going to do whatever it takes to win in what is essentially a playoff or rebuild year.....for Marty Hurney's coach.

Also, Gettlemen has some absurd he is new thus awesome hype. At this stage he is largely an unknown...brought in, told he would do x this year and made some painfully obvious calls. I hope he turns out to be legit. Him not signing OL talent doesn't mean there aren't instant upgrades....his job is more complex than that.

Basically if you look at everything except winning. Two undrafteds holding up the right side of the line. Center coming off of a injury D2 lg and an aging left tackle. Gettlemagic. But it's cool because we have two new DT, bandaid wrs, bandaid secondary, rookie rb with ball security issues, and another d2 guard that can't get on the field. I keep saying it Gettleman built this roster so he can give Ron a chance but at the same time completely rebuild it if it doesn't work.

Gotta look bigger....gotta look that we have Newton, good RBs, etc. OL can hold the entire O back and limit whatever does....

Hoping several question marks pan out on your OL....so it actually functions is beyond risky. Not to mention the risk they put all your key players in. If there is one spot you can justify overspending and going beyond the call of duty it is the OL IMO

Again where are these upgrades at final cuts.  Guys like Kirwin and Ryan say they aren't going to be instant starters which is what we need to be better than what we have.

Gettleman already told you that he was making moves not just for this year but the next few years.  We need to win more games but in a smart controlled fashion.  You got look bigger which means for the future as well as the present.
