Just finished it... Definitely a different direction... Good episode.

I liked the episode. HOWEVER...dialogue has been shot in the face since Darabont left. Just saying. The guy is good and the fact that they lost him is showing. Episodes have been great without him, don't get me wrong. However, scenes like Carol getting what she got would have been (and SHOULD have been) MUCH more of an impact under Darabont's watch (or at least, with his suggestions). I guess they're banking on the impact being in the reaction from the group and Rick's evolution from it.

I think the whole point is Rick was using the Carol situation as a test run of his own decision making abilities. To prove to himself that he can make tough calls still, because he knows the group wants and needs that. You have half the group running around making calls that are putting themselves and the group at greater risk than need be at times. Sure, Rick being the dictator in season 3 lead to some risky situations, but I don't think they were as great. I think when he gets back and Daryl's group gets back, and it all comes to light, and the flu issue escalates to a tipping point, this half season will flesh out nicely.

We're all being set-up for a wild midseason finale, I think. Slow-playing the pace with character development and story-telling (much like the comics for much of the past 10 issues, save for the last few where things pick up) in order to shock you with the payoff. I'm really most interested in exactly how they play out what HAS to be the midseason finale and what they'll do with the direction of the 2nd half of the season. What they do with the story itself in the 2nd half will show what this show has right now, because there is a GREAT opportunity for one of the most gruesome, disgusting, vile, and yet badass things to ever be shown on cable television.

Honestly, you guys talk so much sh*t about season two and the farm, but I prefer it to what has been happening at the prison and the Woodbury scenes from last year. It's so slow and boring, but not even in a good, balanced way.

I dunno how to explain it, but everything has become a lot less realistic and so much stuff feels so forced.

i like what this season is setting up for mostly, there should be a huge implosion coming.   but the dialogue and delivery and writing has been lacking.   hopefully the payoff will be worth it.

I'm hoping they let Carol go similar to the way she went in the comics.

Well there has got to be consequences for Rick (Daryl and the girls most likely) for sending Carol off...  so there's that.

I'm kind of thinking that's what may happen to

Tyrese

If it does there should be riots in the streets.

Do you think they'll bring in someone, or use an existing character, to take on Andrea's role in the comics? For a while there I was thinking that it might be Carol that did that, but apparently not.

Maybe Maggie's little sister?

I figured she'd

get the Lori treatment when the Governor comes back.

Abraham is coming around soon with his pack of fine bitches.   Maybe it'll be one of them.
