uhh that's this year, and it's ten attempts... Talk about a small sample size...

Check out his stats for 2012, where he has a fuging awesome 96.5 QBR, 2 TD, 1 INT, 61% completion percentage.  Yet Cam was why we lost those close games, right?  Sure, in 2011 he didn't do as well, but that wasn't because he "isn't clutch," it's because he was still learning... like he is today

Cam is not the reason we have lost all those games in the 4th quarter.  Teeray did an excellent writeup, half the time Cam never got a chance to put us ahead.

That sample size cost us 3 games--no qb with a 17.6 fourth quarter QB rating is exempt from blame.  That is when the stud qbs shine.  Make excuses if it helps you sleep.

it's not about making excuses. You just tried to paint Cam in a terrible light without giving the full scope of the situations.

Bottom line is he did put us in a position to win those games, we didn't.

He should have played better, he didn't. But to make it out like he is the worst 4th quarter qb in his time here is just flat out wrong.

Anyone else see cam reading through progressions ? Moving his head? Checking down? Escaping the pocket under pressure?

I did. Crazy what he's capable of with adequate OLine play

...so you're telling me, cam's not the only one playing offense???? AMAZING..

Of course Cam should have played better.  That is my point.  The statistics are not my doing, but they explain a lot to an objective, knowledgeable football fan.  The same OL and WRs in the first, second, and third quarters suddenly cause the QB rating in the fourth quarter to drop from over 90 to 50?  And when you need that franchise QB to put you on his shoulders and carry you--like Brady did yesterday with his group or WRs---his rating is below 20.  That is eye-opening, and I have nothing to do with the statistics.  They are what they are--you dang right he should have played better.

We have 2 wins against teams with a combined 1-11 record.  The other games were close, and our QB disappeared in the 4th quarter--these stats show that.

Let's wait for some consistency, I mean next week vs. the Rams before making these threads.

Should there be a LaFell Hater thread made exactly for me too then?

Is nobody objective on here?

Cam is a very good QB, sometimes he has good games, sometimes he has bad games.

Talk about knee jerk reactions....

but in that small sample size. that was the point.

and comparing Cam to Brady and the Patriots coaching staff is too much dude. Brady threw a pick with less than 2:00 minutes left. But by a miracle somehow got the ball back. it isn't even remotely the same.

Cam needs time, Cam needs to be consistent, but trying to pigeonhole him based off that small sample size doesn't give the full picture. Let's see how the rest of the season goes out before labeling him a fourth quarter disaster.

If you want to sing the praises of a QB whose rating drops 40 points in the 4th quarter and blame the OL and WRs for that, go ahead.  But stop with the insults.  I hope you realize that an opinion based on statistics and facts that is contrary to your emotional and unsupported babble is not ignorance--but I do not expect an ignorant person to understand that.

Cam's qb rating  qb rating overall is around 89. It iis 51 in the 4th quarter.  In games decided by a TD or less, Cam's QB rating is 16.7 in the fourth quarter.   We are 2-14 in those games.  How did we win 2?

Source? (a statistical database that agents, coaches, GMs, etc. use to evaluate players -- or you could simply deny these facts and call people out for not agreeing with your feelings)

Here is the link that details all of his 4th quarter comebacks and game winning drives (There have been 2):  http://www.pro-football-reference.com/play-index/comeback.cgi?player=NewtCa00

CONSISTENCY--do you know what that means?

So basically you're saying that it's Cam's fault Deangelo fumbled late in the 4th against Seattle, and that Ron Rivera decided not to go for it on fourth and 1 in Buffalo with like 2 minutes to go only up six points when a touchdown was clearly needed to win or force OT?

As for my comment about ignorance. That was less an insult and more pointing out the obvious. The fact that the only quarterback that you could think of to compare him with just happened to be black, and a known bust, speaks volumes to me about your mindset.

Let see Cam do it on a consistent basis. Then this thread would make more sense. We have the defense to be a contender. It all falls on the offense!

I don't need to make excuses, I know Cam and the team as a whole must improve in close games.  However, I also know that the stat line you picked is a really, really poor one.  Not only does it really only display the action in a very limited number of games, the stats themselves are deceptive.

so to illustrate this point, let's choose another QB.  Quick, you tell me, who is this QB: 2 td, 2 int, 52.8% completion percentage, with a rating of 69.1 when within 7 in the 4th quarter.

hint: you already brought him up...
