The Arizona game would have been totally different if receivers actually held onto the damn ball. The entire dynamic of that game changes if Steve catches that touchdown and LaFell doesn't hock the 4th down.

Whole team is on notice for the SF and NE games. Winning at least one and playing well in both will validate Shula, Cam & Rivera and prove that we can play against pressure.

Losing both will put us pretty much out of the playoff hunt and show that we aren't there yet.

Assuming we crush ATL this Sunday of course.

We need to move the ball on really good defenses.

as Rivera has gotten more aggressive, the offense in general has as well.  i don't think there is a coincidence there.  i honestly wasn't ever really worried about Shual because of his rapport with Cam and his familiarity with this offense.  in game adjustments are still a concern for me, i would be interested to see what happens if another team shitblitzes us like the Cards did right up the middle(they were doing that a lot in Cam's very first game iirc, and he did pretty well).  with the stability in the oline now, after Amini got hurt, I think we will improve there.

You see it correctly. Most on here just say: "DAMN SHULA!!! WE NEED MORE POINTS!!!"

very true, they stunted offensive momentum.  but, we had plenty opportunities to still win that game in the second half and our offense got torched.  i think that was our wake up call.

You can say "if we caught that pass Arizona would be different" but lets be real. We didn't catch those balls and we lead at halftime. We were only down by 6 heading into the 4th. We had multiple chances to win that game, not just one. And we failed over and over again.Let's not talk about Arizona because the truth hurts.

Still concerned about our seeming inability to adjust to the Cards defense, but he has improved... we're really in sync right now with a good balance of run/pass. Will be interesting to see how we deal with the 49ers defense, that will be the true test of how far we've come.

I think the adjustment since the Cards has been more on Cam than Shula. Cam is more decisive when he runs now. That extra second or two in the pocket waiting for WRs to get open was killing the offense's momentum. Now, it seems that when things break down, he is taking off with conviction. The 5 or 6 yards he's gaining on those runs vs the 14 yard sacks, are making all the difference. Oh and yeah, WRs can't drop uncontested passes that hit them in both hands or the chest - particularly in the endzone or on 4th down.

The Seattle, Buffalo, and Arizona game were all bad but the Arizona game was the crowning achievement of failure. I have never seen a coordinator so outmatched as Shula was in the second half of that game. It was pitiful.

GUYS GUYS GUYS IF LAFELL HADNT DROPPED THAT ONE PASS WE WOULDVE HAD AT LEAST 3 MORE TDS ITS THE PLAYERS #NOTSHULAFAULT #DONWHOLA? #IWANNABELIKEMIKE

Did you watch the second half where we completely forgot about Greg Olsen?

It was a horribly called game.

I do see some changes over the past few weeks in playcalling but I don't think that was Shula figuring it out so much as watching film, deciding what the offense was doing well and gearing the offense to execute better. They do that each week.  When you combine that with good film work and seeing what the defenses are struggling with, you end up with a game plan that should work.  Seems to me that we have been successful in the second half as well building on what we did well in the first half.

So I don't know that the San Francisco and New England game will tell us if Shula can call a game but whether our players can execute against a tough defense.  Lets be honest here, what killed us against Seattle and Arizona was poor execution and mistakes not poor play calling.  Dropping wide open passes isn't a function of the play calling since they obviously got open, it is executing the play called.

Fans are almost always too hard on offensive coordinators. Except Davidson. He truly was teh suck.
