Brandon Lafell - Ooh Wee Mayne

The best parallel I can think of:

We should keep him and use him like the Eagles have done with Jason Avant.

He's a solid WR4-5 to have depending on who else we get this upcoming offseason.

did someone say Jason Avant???

I was at the game and LaFell locked up on his man immediately after Williams caught the ball and rode him the entire way.  It was a very impressive block and Deangelo would not have scored without it.

Just for some perspective - not using this to make an argument either way:

LaFell was the 52nd ranked wide receiver in yards/game and 60th in total receptions in 2012.

He's the 41st ranked wide receiver in yards/game and receptions this year.

The average #2 receiver would rank 48th.

LaFell should get at least 25% credit for that TD. That was an awesome block.

Lafell 25% for great blocking

D-Will 40% for great speed and field visions

Tolbert 5% for great fake

Cam Newton 10% for selling first fake and making good pass

Travelle Wharton 20% for having a great block.

Like others have said, the biggest issue for Lafell is consistency at this point - but I think he's continuing to develop and become less inconsistent. None of that means we should hold the # 2 WR spot open for him if someone better comes along, but he does have the ability to be an excellent # 2 receiver in our offense.

Stats are for losers...................most WRs are stars and stat chasers.............

As a head coach of a team I want a WR that is certainly capable of the catch and yards after gained...........but more importantly I want a WR who is totally committed to the team for winning a game.........even if it means they spend most of the time of the field in blocking schemes and running decoy routes.

This is not a game of the individual..........

If Lafell is that kind of team WR as I've defined above then in this role then we have a winner......as you can continue to fine tune his skill set much easier than change the attitude of a WR star of stats who sees the team in competition with that star.

despite earning 0% credit...

that clip also shows the effort Kalil puts in to getting downfield.  Looked like he blew a wheel but his effort on those is awesome.

Yes, I know.  As an Offensive line coach, I would applaud his effort and laugh at his results.
