Hey guys I did a quick mock draft using this website http://fanspeak.com/ontheclock/
The goal is to make a somewhat realistic draft that doesn't reach for players in need, In short, this isnt exactly the ideal draft but i'm pretty happy with what i was able to get.

This draft takes into account a Hardy trade with Oakland for a 2nd round pick, lets also assume that we throw in our 6th. with leaves us with...

First Round - Pick #28

OT ANTONIO RICHARDSON
TENNESSEE

Height: 6-6   Weight: 327

http://www.nfl.com/v...onio-Richardson

Tiny.jpg

A good OT that could Play RT until Gross is gone then switch over to LT, good in the pass but struggles in the run. but still a good pickup for our draft position. You may say we need weapons for Cam, but those will be covered with the next 2 picks

Second Round - Pick #36 (OAK)

WR KELVIN BENJAMIN
FSU

Height: 6-5   Weight: 235

 Kelvin-Benjamin.jpg
The first big target we are gonna get for Cam in this draft. Lets be honest, Cam is not an accurate quarterback, he is very good at progressions but he is a big target that can jump up and get Cam's frequent overthrows. To be honest I'm kind of questioning whether or not Kelvin Benjamin will actually be there when this pick comes around, If Benjamin is not available, Devante Adam's should be and he would be a great alternative.

Second Round - Pick #60
DE CHRIS SMITH
ARKANSAS

Height: 6-2   Weight: 268

A replacement for Hardy here, Honestly this pick is mostly BPA, at this point in the draft anyone I'm interested in is too big of a reach or has just been taken a few picks before. Smith is a great slippery pass rusher but currently struggles a bit in the run. I'm not too concerned about that because that is something we can cover for by rotating in Alexander or Addison.

Third Round - Pick #92

TE RICHARD RODGERS
CALIFORNIA

Height: 6-5   Weight: 245

Personally this is my favorite pick of the draft. We had the number 8 offense in the league when we had 2 great pass catching TEs. At 6'5" Rodgers is another massive target that Cam can hit and would give Cam a TON of weapons to work with. Benjamin, Smith, Olsen, and Rodgers on the field would be a scary look for opposing defenses inside the red zone.

Fourth Round - Pick #92

CB DEION BELUE
ALABAMA
Height: 5-11   Weight: 183

This is just me picking up the best CB available at this point in time. Just another guy that can come in and compete. If Captain really does want a long term deal, id be more than happy to let this guy take his place.

----

That's it! Without having to bother with Hardy's contract we should have enough space to resign most of the core players who contributed this year. We don't really improve our CB very much here unless Deion really steps up, but that's a weakness I'm willing to have given how well we faired this year. This mock isnt ideal, but its something i think could realistically happen and i stuck very strictly to the simulation.

What im really excited about here is how easily I was able to lessen the impact caused by Hardy leaving, Being able to get Oakland's #2 pick would be amazing even if we had to drop both our Sixth and Seventh round picks id be up for it. The Difference in quality between a WR at #36 and a WR at #60 is VERY large, but the difference between 28th and 38th isnt big at all. in essence, Oakland's 2nd Round pick is basically a 1st when it comes to WRs.

I believe that with the additions on offense of Richardson, Benjamin, and Rodgers we could be a top Offense again, Cam would have a couple of massive targets he could hit which would make us very potent in the redzone. For more of a deep threat look we could swap out Rodgers for Ginn in the slot and attempt to take the top off the defense. It would give us great flexibility and could really be fun to watch.

----------------

Final Roster looks something like this...

QB: Cam Newton, Derek Anderson

RB: D-will, J-stew, Tolbert

TE: Olsen, Rodgers

OT: Gross, Richardson, Bell

OG: Silatolu, Kugbila, Warton, Scott

C: Kalil

WR1: Kelvin Benjamin, Hixon

WR2: Steve Smith

Slot Receiver: Ginn

DE: Charles Johnson, Chris Smith, Addison, Alexander

DT: Star, Short, Edwards,

MLB: Keuchley

OLB: Davis, Klein, Blackburn

CB1: Florance, Thomas

CB2: White

Slot CB: Belue

SS: Mikell

FS: Mitchell

Personally i don't think we should sign anyone major. I would stick to a pretty similar formula we had last off-season and pick up guys on 1 year deals.

i DO think we should make sure we sign Mikell, Mitchell, Ginn and Gross as a priority this offseason

I am in love with this draft and maybe Brandon Albert in FA. Fiedorwicspellcheck is an interesting player that I think will creep up boards as the draft approaches.

Hmmmmm, I've gotta take this simulator out for a test run

No we dont.

I'm thinking OP mocked by himself. Not with the simulator.
