Look at Ted Ginn with the Dolphins and 9ers... Then look at him with the Panthers.

He also worked with Kennan Allen before the draft. Give him a yougin to work with and I think he'll do wonders

yep.

allen had talent. i have to thihnk that a lot of the reason for his success so early had to do with prep work he had done with proehl.

this is the exact reason why you should invest in a young WR early in the draft. Rickey would do wonders with a young stud.

Steve Smith has directly credited Ricky Prohel as a big influence on his career.  Ted Ginn showed a lot of promise under his tutelage.  This next season will be the test of his coaching skills because he will undoubtedly be working with some new, young talent that will need to produce right away.  Especially if Smith misses any time next season...the WR corps could be the weakest link on the team unless somebody steps up.

you can lead a horse to water but you cant make him catch a touchdown.

Or put it in their hands

Proehl is doing a fine job, considering what he has had to work with.

I think Ginn could one day move into Smitty's position.  They both started out doing special teams and are very similar in size.  Smitty once relied on his speed and heart.  Ginn relies on his speed and I think he is developing into a threat.  We still need a No. 1 to go opposite Ginn.  I would use Smitty next year to go slot and move him around.   He still has talent, but has slowed some and is not as durable as he once was.  I would use him in situations and let him rest.  He still is the best we have, but we must look to the future.

Agreed which really surprised me that the Panthers passed him up in the second round especially since Prohel was praising him before the draft... Maybe if we would've had a 3rd rounder

Ginn likes going against Revis.. Usually finds some success when he does

I think the problem is less on Proehl and more on the lack of talent at the position. Ginn and Smith are veteran players and it's obvious Ginn looked better but LaFell has maxed out his talent. He's not going to get much better.
