We've separated ourselves from the Hawks, now the Hawks are in danger of losing their playoff spot to the Knicks.

If the Knicks win tomorrow against the Suns, they will only be one game behind the Hawks.

It may be in this thread somewhere, but what is our magic number to simply clinch a playoff spot regardless of seed?

Knicks are in 9th at 30-42.   We are 35-37.  So right now the Magic number is 6.

Yeah if I am being unbiased I can't blame them but it sucks if they hire Izzo or some good coach and make the playoffs next season.

Not many college coaches can make the jump and be successful so right now I wouldn't really worry about Izzo.

^Not necessarily, Pacers have struggled recently and could easily forfeit the top seed.

Tonight's game against Washington is a MUST win if we want any shot at the sixth seed.

Basically we would likely need to go 7-2 over the final nine games finishing 42-40 to get the sixth seed.

Updated...

- The Heat have jumped Indiana due to games in hand.

- The Bulls are now tied with the Raptors for third.

- The Bobcats are only two games out of sixth with a remaining schedule of @ 76ers, vs. Magic, @ Cavs, @ Wizards, @ Celtics, vs. 76ers, @ Hawks, and vs. Bulls.

- The Knicks are one game behind Atlanta for the final playoff spot.

We would have said the same thing about Orlando. It's those "should win" games that worry me, not the big games.
