Late Round Tackle

Thought he might go undrafted, but not anymore

2 articles before the pro day, 2 after.  Sad that we are not represented there however.  Thinking he could redhirt a bit this year and possibly start the next.  He will probably be a 49er, since they have a dozen picks

McGill University OL attracts nine NFL teams to Canada

Posted: March 27th, 2014 | Gil Brandt | Tags: Laurent Duvernay-Tardif, McGill University, pro day

Nine teams were present for the pro day event Wednesday at McGill University in Canada: the Jets, Eagles, Raiders, Chiefs, Packers, Bengals, Cardinals, 49ers and Bills. The player they came to see was an offensive lineman named Laurent Duvernay-Tardif.

Duvernay-Tardif measured 6-foot-5, 298 pounds, which was 23 pounds less than his weight at the East-West Shrine Game. He’s a medical student, and he said he thought he lost the weight because he was so busy studying for his classes.

At his pro day, Duvernay-Tardif ran the 40 in 4.94 and 5.08 seconds. He had a 31 1/2-inch vertical and a 9-6 broad jump. He ran the three-cone drill in 7.30 seconds and had 33 bench-press reps. Duvernay-Tardif was not at the combine, but those numbers were as good as any offensive linemen there, including Taylor Lewan. I would imagine that a team will take a chance on him around the sixth or seventh round and hope to turn him into an NFL player.

If I'm not mistaken, McGill is the Harvard / Yale of Canadian schools......seriously high accolades in the scholar circles. Kid is the hot name sleeper lately....def better than Sentrel Henderson.

Yep, the kid is very sharp.

Love it to have this kind of kid be a 10 yr starter.

    • lol no one takes him seriously. He gets a courage award for bringing his hand-me-down  dad-politics into ttb while still asking to himself, "what does ttb mean again?"
    • I'm extremely pumped by this addition. It has to be the biggest addition since the team came back to Charlotte. I was too young to follow the original talented Hornets (Im sad), so I'm not going back that far. People and fans can say what they want about D12, but the man still have a lot left in his tank. And, Im tired of hearing how he doesnt fit in today's game anymore. There are only a handfull of big men today that I can really say, can shoot the ball: Davis, Towns, Embiid, Cousins and Aldridge.  Howard can still dominate! That's all that matters. The only neg I will give Howard is that I do see a lack of desire/effort to play at times. But, I believe MJ can help motivate him back to being a dominant big man again for next two years here.  Dwight Howard averaged a double-double last season: 13.5 ppg, 12.7 rpg, 1.2 bpg, and 1.4 apg.  D12 had "53", I said FIFTY-THREE double doubles last season. He had six games where he averaged 20 rebounds or more.  Guess who was the last Bobcats/Hornets era to even come close to that number.....Emeka Okafor in 2004 as a rookie with 47 double doubles. Then Big Al had 42 in 2013. Howard did that while averaging 29.7 min per game. If you count out his 2014 season where he only played in 41 games, last season was the LEAST amount of minutes played per game in Howard's career.  Only three guys (Towns, Whiteside and Gobert) averaged more double doubles than Howard in 2016. And only four other guys ( Whiteside, Drummond, DJordan and Gobert) averaged more RPG than Howard last season. Other than Towns, none of those guys mentioned above can really shoot the ball any better than Howard. But, teams still want them on their teams for big contracts.
    • ahh the code switch for leftbook incels god bless 'em though
