#3300112 Panthers now have two 5th round comp picks, not 5th and 6th

Posted by Khaki Lackey on Yesterday, 07:54 AM

I'm surprised nobody has commented on how this guy said these 5th's were basically "6th round picks". I think that needs to be addressed.

It's okay though, because our fourth is basically a fifth. Sucks we don't have a fourth now, though. Unless you consider our third a fourth, but I say, "let's not get crazy!"

The comp picks are made before the first pick of the 6th round....so by your ridiculously stupid logic, they are just as much a 5th round pick as a 6th round pick.

Try and keep up.....

Plus, our fourth round pick is in the second half so it counts as fifth. So the late fourth and our regular fifth makes two fifth round and three sixth round picks!!!
I'm kind of bummed we lost our fourth. And our first and second for that matter. Well, technically just the first round pick since it counts as a second.

To avoid pronunciation errors. He will be referred to as Matty Rice.

#3290877 Would you be mad if gettleman chose Todd Gurley as our first round pick?

Posted by Khaki Lackey on 19 March 2015 - 11:54 AM

If you knew how to read you'd see I was responding to topdawg talking about finding 1st round gems NOTHING ELSE, would you not agree Marty was good at that as well?

But since you want to bring up DG's "eye for talent" in the later rounds ill play...

2013
4- Kugz (garbage)
5- Klein (serviceable, however Glanton did a better job once he came in due to AJ's injury)
6- Barner (garbage)

2014
4- Boston (going to tred lightly here since he's from UNC but I thought DG reached, Boston played well before getting abused in Seattle. Way too early to judge this pick though)
5- Bene (very solid)
6- Gaffney (injured, waived, lost)

So leaving Boston out of this, he's gone 1/5 - 1.5/5 with Klein being serviceable.

You would've been better off saying Gettleman has done a better job finding UDFA's or players off the streets/waivers. (Brown, Norwell, Glanton, Remmers, Fozzy) I know I'm missing a few others too

So you aren't counting Boston for whatever reason, and serviceable doesn't count on late round picks but injuries DO count against Gettleman. Mmmkay. Got it.
But yeah, I agree with your sentiment about Hurney, he could hit those first round slow pitches out of the park.

kugbila, barner, gaffney

Sounds familiar...

That's just dumb. If you can't see that DG has an eye for talent in later rounds that Hurney never had you are either not paying attention or are just retarded.

#3290698 Even if we hit another home run draft, is this team ready for primetime?

Posted by Khaki Lackey on 19 March 2015 - 10:25 AM

If Getts can find NFL level help for CJ and Ealy(easy, right?), another FA tackle, draft an NFL ready speed receiver, RB, stud future LT then maybe

You're acting like every playoff calibre team has zero holes. Both teams in the Super Bowl last year were far from perfect rosters. I think we'll be fine at RB even if we don't get another one. Everyone on here talks about how you can plug anyone in at RB, now everyone complains that we only have Stewart, Fozzy, and Tolbert. Not every super bowl calibre team has two premier DEs and an elite LT. I see what you are saying, but I feel the team is closer than you think. Hell, we've played Seattle tough every time we've played them, even with Bell and Bersin on the field and laughable special teams play.

The biggest advantage of being all pro, you ask? Unlimited pie. It's the gift that keeps giving the whole year, Clark.

Delhomme, Steve Smith, Moose, and Ricky Proehl had nothing to do with it.

Come on, mayne. Davis was a stud that year.

Gentleman is too conservative. He's a great talent evaluator but if you never bring in even mid level contributors, you're not going to win a Lombardi. Just look at The Patriots. They build through the draft AND free agency. They're never in cap trouble and they're always in the mix for a super bowl.

The money has to come from somewhere and be accounted for.

I'm going to repeat that for you, because you don't seem to be taking the journey with the rest of us in the real world.

The money has to come from somewhere and be accounted for. It's real. The NFL notices when a team is over the cap. There is no hoping they don't notice.

This one is really going to blow your mind:
The Patriots and Packers have the same salary cap that we do. In fact, every NFL team does. The teams that manage it better seem to have more to spend. That's what our GM is trying to do.
But if it were up to some here, we would put ourselves right back up against the wall, then bitch next year about not having money to sign guys.
$13 million dollars is not a lot if money in NFL terms and we have to consider future contracts like Cam's and Luke's.

Rookie WRs can come right in and contribute. Last year should have proved that to anyone who was paying attention. Why overpay for one in FA?

#3277149 For all those giving this team a big pat on the back...

Hey! Let's all start threads with our latest thoughts. Word of warning, mine will be a lot less football and a lot more poon-tang related. pow.

So this couldn't have been a comment in the twenty other threads just like this one. No way. Gettleman would probably miss it then!! He's more of a "browse the thread titles" kind of huddler. Good call.

#3273472 Report: Andre Johnson and Frank Gore want to hang with Andrew Luck will sign...

Colts are going all in with their quarterback.

If we want to compete in the playoffs, we need to do all we can to improve our WR corps this year. There is really no way around it.

Unless we can get a QB that elevates the talent around him like Tom Brady or Russell Wilson.

We'll call it "the Mike Wallace effect."
