#2728141 Your pick in this scenario

No clue why you would have Cooks or Benjamin rated over Lee to being with...

#2695275 Nicks visiting the Colts tonight

Honestly guys if we don't sign Nicks its cause Getts doesn't want him.

#2694123 A kid's reaction to Smitty's release, and his awesome sister...

Those two siblings basically represented what went on inside my heart this week.

#2689933 Smith gone due to being outspoken about Shula

Posted by KissMyConverse on 13 March 2014 - 09:25 AM

This is from an inferior site.  I'm not one to read that site ever but this is actually new and interesting info.

take it for what it's worth...

lol at autoedit and unlinkability

Never understood the hate for Cat Scratch and visa versa. I actually enjoy both these sites.

That being said its a good thing they can't cut me from my fandom for critizing Shula or I would have been gone a loooonnnnggg time ago.

#2686300 Nicks reps and Panther reps talking.....

Posted by KissMyConverse on 12 March 2014 - 09:26 AM

My question is... if we got Nicks, would it be more or less beneficial to have Smitty on the roster with him.

Again I don't think letting Smith walk had anything to do with Play or Money. So it doesn't matter who is on the team Steve Smith won't be.

#2683934 Smith Perspective: A Voth-man prophecy

Posted by KissMyConverse on 11 March 2014 - 02:23 PM

I don't disagree with cutting or trading Smith, it's just the way it all went down.  Smith had to hear his time in Carolina might be up through social media.  Gettleman vaguely mentions in the past tense that Smith has had a great career at his only press conference.  He could have been clear with his intentions "We're considering parting ways with Steve Smith but we haven't made a final decision yet.  I plan to speak with Steve about it directly" would have been excellent.  At the very least "I have not yet spoken to Steve and I have no comment on the situation" would have sufficed.  Gettleman treated Smith like he was just another joe on the team which he is definitely not.  Cutting/trading him is one thing but not even showing him the respect of telling him directly he might be cut is pretty low.

Personally I think Getts got caught up in a Catch 22. He was asked a question about Steve Smith's future when he wasn't prepared for it.

Should he have been?

That's debatable. He is under contract for two more years, he is the only WR really we have under contract, and he is Steve Smith! Who would have thought the reporter would have asked about his future? Maybe he should have thought "Hey Gross retired, so obviously the question will be can you imagine this team without Smith?" But he wasn't prepared for it. And well he flubbed the answer.

Getts isn't the type that wants to blow smoke up your rear so he answered honestly instead of deflecting the question or flat out lying. NOW that is the skill he has to learn. The GM stuff he is prepared for, the PR stuff he is learning.

So honestly I don't fault him for this. I also don't fault him for not rushing to explain things to Smith. I watched this press conference, its on Panthers.com. I remember the question and really didn't think anything of it. Thought his reaction was weird but I also thought he was reacting to an absurd question. Oops I was wrong. But I also didn't know I was wrong for 4 days after the press conference that was done on Thursday. No one made a big deal out of it till Monday (May have been Sunday, don't remember, point is it was a few days).

But this is where he screwed up. As soon as they made a deal out of it he should have picked up the phone and let Smith know, instead he waited till Steve reached out a week later to address it.  And that is what we all should be mad about. He didn't react right away. But I don't think he meant for it to leak and after he slipped up it wasn't caught right away so I guess he thought no harm no foul.

#2683686 AP Steve Reed thinks Mitchell is gone at 4:01 PM.

Posted by KissMyConverse on 11 March 2014 - 12:53 PM

I think Mitchell is better than what he was in Oakland BUT I think he isn't worth what people are going to pay for him for his play in Charlotte. He benefited from that front 7 more than anybody.

#2681746 Panthers attempting to trade Steve Smith.

Posted by KissMyConverse on 10 March 2014 - 04:42 PM

That's why I said "this year," as in 2014. Last move Gettleman made that was worth a damn was extending Rivera's deal. He Hurneyed a one-year wonder at DE, and now he's giving Steve Smith the Steve Beuerlein treatment.

Not to mention the fact there's been no discussion on a Cam contract extension. Can't wait for him to hardball Bus Cook. That'll go well.

Ok so you do realize its only March and FA has not started right?

This is epically ridiculous, though. Your GPOAT is getting treated like trash. We have no viable #1 waiting in the wings and he should be allowed to finish his career here! For all that he has done and meant to this organization and city?? Come the hell on man!!!

See Joe Montana and Jerry Rice and where they ended up and how they left San Fran....

And let's face it Steve Smith is no Joe Montana or Jerry Rice.

Posted by KissMyConverse on 10 March 2014 - 04:26 PM

I agree that Smith should rework his deal, if we decide to keep him, but Nicks has some red flags. Would I like to have him? Sure, but he will not fill the leadership void that Steve Smith will leave here, not if he can't even make team meetings for the team that drafted him.

I think that's the point behind this whole thing. Its time to move on from the old and let Cam and Luke take over. That's what the FO wants. That is the only reason that makes sense to cut/trade your only offensive weapon.

But in the end it may be the right call.

I love Steve Smith but he has a strong overpowering personality and sometimes that's a good thing and sometimes that's a bad thing and this team will never be Cam's team till he is gone.

#2680341 LOGAN THOMAS in late rounds?

Posted by KissMyConverse on 09 March 2014 - 02:47 PM

As a Tech fan I would be 100% behind drafting Logan in the 5th round or later..... as long as we converted him to TE!

He was recruited to Tech to play TE and ended up playing QB when they realized he had a rocket arm and Cam Newton's size, he just never developed.

#2676667 Interesting read about trading for Morris Claibourne

Posted by KissMyConverse on 06 March 2014 - 06:50 AM

I'd do it for a 4th in a heartbeat. With the depth of this draft I'd love to hang on to our first 3 picks.... and would love to rub it in the Cowboys face that we got their #6 overall pick for a 4th rounder and turned him into what they wanted him to be all along.
