#2793689 Panthers wave Travis Bond and sign the Big Maple Leaf

Don't we have three night games this year? What are we going to do with a tackle that's scared of the dark?

#2669909 WR Micahel Campanaro

Reminds me a lot of Pilares. But if we don't use a pick on him, he'd be a good guy to have in camp.

#2669874 Panthers, Hardy talking long-term deal

Posted by jungleking on 28 February 2014 - 01:28 PM

Do your homework and get back with me.  William's cap is 6 million which is not a huge number,  Stewart is 4.6 million.  Their salaries are even smaller.  Sure they could be smaller but 10.6 million is much less than Johnson's counts himself and together only 8% of the cap combined.

And no we were not on our heels against good teams, we actually won the time of possession battle against most teams and we played against more top 15 defenses and top 15 offenses than any other team in the league.

Too many drama queens around here with their doom and gloom prophesies.

They're not huge hits, but they are two of the ten biggest hits in the NFL for running backs. We spend more on running backs than any team in the NFL except for the Vikings. That represents a massive opportunity cost.

#2669859 Panthers Sign K Graham Gano to Four-Year Deal

Posted by jungleking on 28 February 2014 - 01:23 PM

Hate it. Hate it. Hate it.

Kickers aren't consistent from year to year. That's just math, and you can view the evidence in the chart in this link. Since kickers aren't consistent from year to year, it's almost impossible for a kicker to live up to a long-term contract that pays above the league average. So now we're locked into a four year contract that will probably only be worth it for two of those years, and the Panthers current cap situation is a case study for how those deals can screw teams over.

#2427757 Where does Stewart fit in?

Quit being so negative, we're getting a 26 year old with Pro Bowl talent at the exact time that he can be most effective. Let him play himself into shape for a while, then unleash him on tired defenses at the end of the year.

#2427634 Do you think that Rivera has changed his coaching philosophy?

Ron Rivera on going for the early fourth downs: "it's what we're going to do. We're going to do the best we can to make things happen."

Sounds like yes, he is looking at a long-term change in the way the team does things on fourth downs. And it's friggin awesome.

#2421925 DeAngelo Williams can't get enough pink!

Anybody seen the new 5 Hour Energy commercial featuring DeAngelo Williams where, while talking about the NFLs Breast Cancer Awaresness months, he confesses that he "can't get enough pink?"

#2227832 So how do you feel about our saftey position?

Posted by jungleking on 10 May 2013 - 01:21 PM

And here lies the problem the word feel.We feel good about our safety and we feel Norman will come around. The word feel should only be used if you are feeling breast. The word is meaningless in describing football players. In football you better know or some team will light you up like a Christmas tree

Excuse me for using a single word that you disagree with. Allow me to more completely spell out my logic.

We KNOW that Mitchell is an efficient tackler and blitzer, that he plays excellent football near the line of scrimmage. He has the size, athleticism, and instincts to produce, and should consistently show what he has flashed in his previous experience.

His coverage, though, is lacking, and that's not good for a defensive unit whose only real weakness exists in the secondary.
