#3354232 David Gettleman draft Recap on WFNZ.

Posted by yasuhara2241 on Today, 09:02 AM

If our rookies play well, there will still be some Huddlers that will be upset our rookies are being judged too soon. "Need at least 3 years to judge a rookie you Gettleman nut-huggers" is what they'll say.

Bring up Star and KK and they'll say, "well we haven't re-signed them yet, have we?" Then 2 years after we do re-sign both, they'll say, " well they haven't lived up to their 2nd contract yet"

Don't underestimate how miserable some Huddlers want you to feel.

haha I totally agree. I try to laugh it off. Look at last years draft and undrafted rookies and people still talk about wasting the Gaffney pick when NE stole him from us.

Is it just me or does he seem to be a lot more open and direct this year then last year? He seems very upfront about the teams board and what we were looking to do and why we did what we did.

Overall I think he learned his lesson from the Steve Smith debacle and is now not holding back and expressing what he is thinking about and what the team is wanting or needing.

I believe in this guy and feel like in the "re-drafts" we will be looking very solid and nobody is going to be upset with our picks.

The Panthers trading up helped us fill needs and go BPA. The only round I don't believe we went BPA was the 5th but who knows. Shaq filled a huge hole that many don't pay attention to bc it's not a glamour position. But we do run the large Nickel a ton. This draft will be graded poorly by all draft pundits and only time will tell how great it will be but I for one loved what we did

#3352137 What's your worry?

Posted by yasuhara2241 on 02 May 2015 - 08:46 PM

Im truly a Gettleman homer and love what he has done since he got here. We still have holes and worries but I do not blame him for these holes. They will get filled little by little.

My concerns:

1. Shula- No confidence in him. I believe that if we still had Chud or somebody with his ability we would be so much better off.

2. LT - I think Oher is the biggest question mark. Hoping he regains form

3. RB - Do we have the 2nd string RB on the roster? Is Fozzy that guy?

4. Safety - Can Boston continue his play at the end of the season? How long can Harper play

Those are my main concerns.

#3350226 Dave Gettleman is quietly putting together a better draft than last year.

I can get on board with the idea its genius to move up and target the players you want... but I have an issue with who he is targeting and when. Both Thompson and Funchess could have been taken later I believe.

This type of thinking is very dangerous. You never know where other teams have players rated or where they want to pick them. If you base your thinking off mock drafts then yes we "reached". But then again the way I think we should look at it is that the Panthers went after the players they were targeting and wanted. If we didn't get Shaq maybe Dallas does. If we didn't get Funchess maybe the Saints do. We never know so Im glad the Panthers went after their targets.

#3346079 Round 1 - Carolina Panthers Select Shaq Thompson

The way I look at it this is a great pick for the following reasons.

1. We got a starting OLB to take over the position for Klein.

2. We got a LB that can cover TEs

3. We got a player that can play in the nickel and dime in the joker position (do we really want to see Colin Jones, Harper, or one of the other FAs we picked up?)

4. We got a players who can take over for Davis in the future.

5. We got a player that can play special teams

6. We got a player who can fill in so many roles to help this team (not including RB, he's not playing that)

#3345736 Top 3 Offensive Targets In Round 2

Okay, go here - http://www.panthers....95-0f8f70736bf5 - and listen to Gettleman say he's not moving up in the first 3 rounds.

Listen again. He was specifically talking about moving up in the 1st. He didn't want to do it because he would have to give up a 2nd to do that and he wasn't willing to do that. If the price to move up is a Round 4 and 5 to move up they will do it. They do not want to give up Rounds 1-3.

I saw last night that DG said he wouldn't move up in the 2nd or 3rd. I believe it came from Voth.

Here's the quote.

All I got from that is he didn't want to give up anything in Rounds 1-3. He never said he would give up any pics in the other rounds to move up. I see us moving up in the 2nd or 3rd. No way we go into camp with 9 rookies.

No OTs on the board. No DEs that fit our team. A ton of WRs that can be had with our 2nd pick.

Sooooo this is a great pick. He can do a little of everything and I just like the playmaking ability.

Soccer is one of those sports you have to see in person to appreciate. The emotion by the fans make events like this even more spectacular

Great vid! Although the build up was so nice and them boom it was over. Ok truth be told I just wanted more! Good job

#3208020 Last night showed why we need Steph Curry, and need to trade Kemba in the nex...

Pipe dream for Steph. No way Golden State will get rid of him. If he does ever come here I will eat some crow but I really think you are setting yourself up just to be disappointed and blame the FO for something not realistic.

#3165860 NFC Defensive PLayer of the Week - Roman Harper

Posted by yasuhara2241 on 31 December 2014 - 12:27 PM

Harper has been good for us. He's a leader in the back and has made lots of plays during our win streak. Can he cover up somebody's mistake? No, but that is why it's good to have Boston back there for that complementary speed.

I like pocket Cam with the ability to escape. I also like the short yardage usage of Cam. The read option is fine when used 3-5 times at most during the game. I don't think it should be a staple in our offense though.

Call me idiotic but let's not get ahead of ourselves. We have beaten 1 horrible team, 2 bad teams and 1 below average team. The potential for us being a better team is with Lance buying into the team. We are an above average team without him and a good team with him if he buys in which is a big if.

One thing I will say is that I like Hendo with the starters. He fits so much better there. I would love for Lance to have the Ginobli place on our team but who knows if he will ever accept it.
