#2987089 Anderson is a better option than Cam right now

Posted by yasuhara2241 on 29 September 2014 - 12:47 AM

I don't buy this "let Cam heal" bs. If our defense was holding up and we were winning nobody would say anything even if he was getting smashed around on offense. Can you all imagine what happens when Cam actually throws his first pick of the season? The uproar in Charlotte will be crazy.
Fact: Cam has been passing extremely well and very efficient.
Fact: Cam is hurt.
Fact: He is learning what it takes to become a truly great pocket passer bc he can't run.
Fact: missing one game was hard on Cam, imagine more
Fact: DA isn't the answer
Fact: Cam and the panthers need to find a will to fight through this together
Fact: Benching Cam is not the answer. Its just searching for answers to the wrong question

#2979781 Kelvin Benjamin: Panthers Playmaker

Posted by yasuhara2241 on 27 September 2014 - 08:09 AM

Here's the catch though, he's not dynamic in YAC and he's dropping balls. His drop percentage so far is already around 10% if what I read a minute ago is true. Kind of wish we had someone dynamic beside him, and not just possession receivers. Maybe Hill pans out.

I honestly hate it when people bring up drop percentage after such a small sample size. First of all he had drops in 1 game. The other two he had no drops. Also drops don't count the crazy catches he makes that others wouldn't . I can usually count 1-2 catches of those per game. Now as far as the dynamic YAC, this is another stat that drives me crazy. He averages almost 16 yards per catch. He is tied for 5th in the NFL for catches over 20+ yards. That sounds pretty dynamic to me. Once again I understand your point about YAC he only averages about 2 yards of YAC, but he's routes are slants, deep ins and hitches into traffic. The only routes he could get YAC in are the deep streaks but those have been for TDs!

Some untimely penalties have killed us. Two long defensive PI leading to FGs and then we have been faced with a bunch of 2nd and longs due to holding or facemask penalties. We need to clean this stuff up.

Now I know its a fun thing to bash Shula but that 3rd and 1 call was something we all wanted, a bootleg but Bersin got blown up negating that. Also we have done a pretty good job passing the ball but then get a penalty when we get on the other side of the 50.

I know you all are going to say we only got 3 pts. Well we only got the ball 4 times!!! One time was a 3 and out. One was a FG. The other 2 we were driving and then stupid penalties. Clean it up!

#2957882 kalil on carolina's biggest flaw so far...

Posted by yasuhara2241 on 16 September 2014 - 12:45 PM

Those plays are to slow developing and our interior was letting guys run free that's probably why they didn't call very many.  I remember them specifically running a counter with stew and he was met in the backfield as soon as he got the ball

I remember that one too, but it was a complete missed assignment and then a whiff block from Turner. You are right that not many were called. The reverse to Philly Brown went for a good chunk of change if not for the holding on KB. And you are correct that the some of the slow developing plays were getting blown up but I think there were not a lot of creative running plays. I think the sprint counters where newton runs right and the back runs left would have been a good change up.

I agree run blocking wasn't good especially on the inside of the line, which is where the Lions are strong. I wish we would have run more counters and misdirections. The reverses and counters seem to do a little better. The inside runs and sweeps just sucked.

Teams weak in the middle = Stewart/Tolbert and pounding the middle

Teams strong in the middle = DLo and counters, reverses and tosses

We just had the wrong runner for the game last week

#2935129 What we learned about today's game against Tampa Bay

Posted by yasuhara2241 on 07 September 2014 - 08:31 PM

What I learned from today:

1. Oline depth - We saw many variations of the oline and really they did a great job. We gave up 1 sack but that was on a busted play. I think Anderson did a great job getting the ball out quickly and helping make them look good. They also opened up some good holes especially for Williams.

2. Wrs - We are way better this year then last. Sure hands and with an absolute potential beast with KB. I also love what Cotchery and Avant brought with some great 3rd down catches. Also surprised on how many offensive plays Philly Brown was in on even though I don't think he caught a ball.

3. Tes - Olsen amazing as always. Didn't see much from Dickson. Still hoping to see Brandon Williams in the future. But I do like the bootlegs to the TE that we saw twice today.

4. QB - Anderson is an extremely underrated backup qb!!

Defense

1. Awesome dline rotation. We seem to be always fresh which I like.

2. Luuuukkkkkkkkkeee!!

3. Like what I saw from Bene. He seemed good in run support and made an imp fumble recovery.

4. Finish! They got a little slack at the end, but I love our defense!

#2897849 Who's the 'Prototype' for the New Age QB? Newton or Luck?

Posted by yasuhara2241 on 19 August 2014 - 09:20 AM

http://footballgamep...luck-vs-newton/

Good morning Panthers fans! Our FBGP Analyst Gene Clemons took a look at both Andrew Luck & Cam Newton and analyzing why Newton is being critically undervalued for what he brings to the table.

Enjoy

Em

Enjoyed the write up but you did get wrong one thing which Newton has always dressed better than Luck or any of the young QBs. He always is wearing suits or sweater vests. He is clean cut and is very articulate even when saying the wrong words or phrases. Ive never seen him with a backward hat on.

#2859665 Average age of our likely starting lineup

Posted by yasuhara2241 on 21 July 2014 - 07:51 AM

There was a lot of Cho bashing in the beginning of free agency by local fans and there will be always MJ bashing in national media but the truth is that this has been we have done an excellent job building for the future ever since we started the rebuild. After our playoff loss to Orlando, it only really took 3 years to make the playoffs and turn into this young exciting team
