#2699935 Former Teammate on Steve Smith Release

Posted by Beast_3000 on 16 March 2014 - 06:40 AM

This may ruffle a few peoples feathers but a large part of Steve's problem this year involved his inability to look at himself. If you're an All-Pro making dazzling catches then we all expect you to hold your team mates to that standard but let's face it. Smitty had some issues this year. He was the best wide receiver we had but that wasn't saying much. The drop of over the last two years has been noticeable. He had some critical drops and he left some plays out on the field. If he was pointing the finger at Cam then I can see why the team considered moving on. Do I agree? Heck naw.

If you have an argument with your girlfriend or brother or sister or wife you talk about it and try to solve the problem. If communication was sooooo great in the locker room the coaches should have talked to the Panther GOAT and tried to correct the problem.

#2696063 Would you be happy with trading our 1st round pick for Josh Gordon?

Yes and yes again

#2666445 Antonio Richardson breakdown?

Posted by Beast_3000 on 25 February 2014 - 10:07 PM

In my opinion, Richardson is probably the only legitimate option at 28 to get a day 1 starter at LT for the Panthers. I would prefer to let him start on the right side his first year and sign a free agent left tackle.

Lewan, Robinson and Mathews will be gone by 28. If any of those three are still there we need to fly up to the podium.

Honestly if Richardson is gone along with the other tackle options I would prefer us going BPA. Use our pick to get a game changing receiver before the non playoff team in the second round gobble up the play makers.

Don't think Godfrey is being cut.

Not sure why you think that. He just needs to be designated as a June 1st cut. Could save 5.1 off the cap.

#2637962 Jerry Angelo (former Bears GM) ranks the league's QBs, Cam comes in at #4

Posted by Beast_3000 on 01 February 2014 - 06:56 AM

not at all, I am using a great defense this season as praise for a great defense this season.Again if someone thinks that is trolling then they have a problem with another person having a different or opposing opinion. rW and CK have nothing to do with what I posted and were not factors in the posts. The fact the D was the major reason for our success is not derisive towards Cam. I think denying it is derisive against the D.We can all play that game.
I am sure Can will improve as he is surrounded with more weapons but that doesn't change what the D did and I am sure Cam would be one of the first to give the D their props for what they did. Pointing out the D was just doing the same as Cam would do. Just becaus some here are sensitive about Cam doesn't change the facts about the D. i said nothing derisive about what Cam could do in the future I merely aknowledged what the D did in the present. Credit where credit is due.

Yes, but you exclude major changes in philosophy when you give the defense most of the credit for the teams turnaround. Rivera changed his coaching philosophy. He was 2 -14 in games of 7 points or less before the turnaround this season. You argue that Cam was 7 -9 his second season. Well yeah, if your coach plays "not to lose" instead of "playing to win" the team ends up on the short end of the stick. You take the 2- 14 record for close games and make it about 8 -8 based on ballsy coaching by Ron and you have 3 winning seasons with Cam at quarterback. You take away the Riverboat Ron philosophy this year and I am sure we would have missed the playoffs again.

Put Cam on the Saints team you still have a playoff team. Put Brees here on this panther team and you do not have a playoff team. Cam has a diverse skill-set that hides many of our teams flaws.

Cam is part of the solution and he is arguably the most important part of the team. He and Luke are 1A & 1B.

If Bell was an undrafted free agent we should be able to find a solid right tackle in round 3 or 4. Our scouts just have to dig and do their job... Find the diamond in the ruff.

If Seattle can have the best secondary in the league starting a 5th and sixth round cornerback we can find a Hog Mollie in the 4th round.

#2628272 Jordan Matthews

Posted by Beast_3000 on 23 January 2014 - 06:05 AM

I finally think we have a good problem to have. This draft has some clear cut receiving talent. Robinson, Mathews , Watkins, Benjamin and Evans as a otential first round pick for us.

Right now for our needs I would rank them

Despite where I rank Mathews I believe he will end up being better than at least two of the guys above him. Something about the Florida State kid screams potential bust to me. The other guys, in my opinion, will be really good. I just think Jordan will out work a few of them and out perform them. You don't become the SEC leader in receiving by chance. This guy didn't have any other weapons on offense yet he averaged over 1100 yards in 12 games his last two seasons.

See the reason most people are picking Kaep over Cam is because Kaep has a lot more weapons to work with on Sunday. Even if we win Sunday. DG has to think real hard about double dipping in the first two rounds of this coming draft get Cam 2 of the best WRs that is there. I think we can get Gross stay one more season and draft a true LT in the draft in 2015. It is be coming more and more that DG needs to surround Cam with some weapons to throw to. Olsen good, but he needs a star WR and a good WR as well. This draft coming is the time to strike. No more BSing.

I think we should get a receiver early but I think the other early draft pick should be an offensive lineman. Starting 2 rookie receivers probably isn't gonna happen. I just hope we can get the most out of our first and second round picks. When you get quality starters and contributors the rest will take care of itself.

Rivera called the overthrows "unforced errors." Cam said he needs to get better and get back to his mechanics. Smith went to Cam on the sideline to get his head right. Who else should share the blame?
Questions: Do you think Cam can overthrow WRs all the way to the Super Bowl? Do you want him to continue overthrowing WRs and TEs and RBs? If you answered "no" to these questions, then we are in agreement and doing so without "zeroing in" on the QB--simply suggesting that he corrects this problem.

I know that Cam doesn't always make perfect throws but if we had a game changing receiver the throws would not have to be perfect all the time.

Smitty has made a career of catching high or low throws. He is just getting old for NFL standards. Alshon would have covered some of Cams flaws.

We need playmakers. Tom Brady throws inaccurate balls a ton too.

#2573179 Lafell and shula SMH

I'm ok with the coaches but Lafell showed today he isn't capable of stepping up to anything close to a legitimate threat. No need to spend money on him. Let him go.

#2572558 Yes, there are things wrong with this team...

Man before the season I projected 9 wins for us but who would have projected 12-4 ?
especially after starting 1-3

No question which side of the ball has us in the playoffs

#2570632 Panthers likely to begin contract discussions with Cam this Offseason

Posted by Beast_3000 on 29 December 2013 - 02:40 PM

We extend him.

6 years $90M.

Rivera - 4 years 18M

Would love both of those contracts. Although I think it will have to be a tad more for Cam. But I hope I am wrong and you are right.

Listening to the Gross show has shown me that there are some good people on this team. You just don't hear thugs and illiterates as you might with some teams. DWill is a great guy, which makes it so easy to root for this team.

I agree. We hate on Hurney but he made sure that the players he brought in, and retained, were high character guys that wanted to put in work.

He understood that young men on occasion made small mistakes and bounced back to become stronger better people. Now Hurney's contracts !!?????? I don't know what the fug he had going through his skull.
