#2168261 DJ Moore Signs 1 Year Deal w/ Panthers

Posted by SparkyDevil on 19 March 2013 - 08:44 PM

This was a great move. Munnerlyn was holding out for a big pay day - and he was not worth it. Rembmer what Gettleman said during his press conference? He's going to pay people what they are worth. Moore will be a solid player for us. With Norman, Moore, Dockery and Thomas, we have a nice young stable of corners. Godfrey and hopefully Mitchell and Campbell will make our secondary much better than last year. Great moves so far.

#2162682 Armond Smith got him a new instrument today

Posted by SparkyDevil on 14 March 2013 - 09:58 PM

Why would he get released or punished for this? He's done absolutely nothing wrong minus tweeting a photo of a device used to smoke tobacco. Sheesh, I can't believe some people think this is a big deal.

#2139066 Panthers Pulse CB Josh Thomas

Our scouting dept did a nice job realizing Josh could play and getting him off waivers from Dallas.

Yeah, always wonder why a team parts ways with a guy like that. Same thing with Darius Butler.

#2121162 Fixing the road uniforms

Posted by SparkyDevil on 01 February 2013 - 05:08 PM

So this article got me thinking about the Panthers road uniforms, mainly how sick I am of seeing the white road uniforms. I also hate that they look so different from the home and alternate uniforms. Clearly the Panthers uniforms are not changing any time soon. I mean, they would have changed last year with the logo if they were going to. Anyway, I found these photoshopped images on another forum and wanted to know what you think. Personally, I like how the black and silver pants would look.

inb4 your typical uniform threads are lame comments. It's the offseason. This is a message board.

Personally, I'm fine with our silver helmets, it keeps us looking different than the Saints and Falcons.

#2121087 Reason Why Sherrod Was Benched

Posted by SparkyDevil on 01 February 2013 - 03:36 PM

I'm not a major evaluator of talent, but I thought Sherrod saw some signs of serious improvement this season. If he comes back from his injury ok, he's an above average backup safety.

edit: typo

#2121079 Cam extending the olive branch to Ray Lewis?

Posted by SparkyDevil on 01 February 2013 - 03:28 PM

He's probably saying that because for some unknown reason the 49ers seem to have several players that dislike Cam and the Panthers.

Yeah, Alex Smith was a total dick before the season started. Hope he likes playing in Jacksonville.

#2085145 darin gantt "Panthers keep finding scapegoats, bigger problem remains"

Posted by SparkyDevil on 08 January 2013 - 09:01 PM

In the past I enjoyed Gantt, but lately he has become ridiculously critical (almost bitter) with his tweets and stories. No matter what the Panthers do, they are wrong. The stance is getting tired. Its like when he started working for pro football talk he wanted to focus on ragging on the Panthers.

#2083121 Beason coming back?

Posted by SparkyDevil on 07 January 2013 - 05:41 PM

Fans forget wayyy to quickly - but Beason (when healthy) is a tremendously talented linebacker. Personally, he did not look great in training camp and was horrible early in the season. That suggests he was never fully recovered from the achilles injury he suffered in 2011 (it often takes two years to fully recover from a serious injury like that). He could come out and look like Beason of old next year - and that is just way too good to pass up. That is something that can make our defense extremely, extremely good (along with another good DT and safety).

#2079209 So... Who does Rivera fire/replace from his staff?

Posted by SparkyDevil on 05 January 2013 - 05:28 PM

This just made me think of Hadooki Nakamorons fake punt fail.

Not every play works every time. In retrospect, yeah - pretty dumb. To be honest, I sure as heck did not see that coming. Very uncharacteristic of us - but even so - special teams did improve slightly once Rodgers took over full time. Def. have to do something about Adams and our return situation, but we covered pretty well and made great tackles.

#2078715 George Paton on the GM list

The more names I hear that are not Brandon Beane, the happier I am.

#2078107 Marc Ross' drafting history

Posted by SparkyDevil on 05 January 2013 - 10:29 AM

Good research - one thing to consider is how many other people are involved in the draft. While one person might have the final say - you can't really hang draft picks on just one guy. Still, this was very educational - gives you an idea of the kinds of players Giants execs look for.

#2077198 cowher to carolina?

Posted by SparkyDevil on 04 January 2013 - 06:12 PM

Thanks for agreeing Sparky. After 20+ years of marriage it is nice to be argeeed with.

Don't get me wrong. At one time he was good, ever very good. I just happen to think that he is happy not coaching. And that is not how a coach operates. They eat, think, and breath football.

IMO, if he wanted back in he would have announced it by now. I am sure someone would ****** him up if he did come back. I just don't want him here. It concerns me that he walked away and never looked back. That just isn't how coaches act. Or then again, I could be wrong. Again.

Oh, you.

Yeah your last point makes a lot of sense. We rarely hear the dudes name mentioned anywhere outside of Panthers rumors. Check this one off to Florio looking for website traffic. tool.

#2077177 Chud is optimistic about the offense per Panthers.com

Posted by SparkyDevil on 04 January 2013 - 06:06 PM

Not a bad article. This, to me, is reason for excitement:

Carolina finished 12th in total yards (360.7 per game) and 18th in scoring (22.3) despite the facts that only two teams had fewer possessions and only seven had worse average starting field position. The Panthers ranked fifth in yards per play (5.8), sixth in third down conversion percentage (43%) and tied for eighth in red zone touchdown efficiency (58.7%).

Considering how bad the offense looked at the beginning of the year, it seems like adjustments were made to fix it and turn things around. Chud got a pretty bad rap this season - and rightfully so - the offense looked awful against seattle and new york, but maybe things are improving. Also means that Rivera better get us to the playoffs next year.

Still rather have Norv Turner.

#2077155 cowher to carolina?

Posted by SparkyDevil on 04 January 2013 - 05:59 PM

I said for some it is a necessity.

And what does my watching his last year in Pitt mean? He left after what,14 years. Been gone another 7. He may not want to return. If he did. Wouldn't he say something by now?

I am behind Rivera. Don't want Cowher. Even if we fire Ron I don't want Cowher. Just bringing up some points of interest. Or maybe just interesting to me.

Totally agree with you on this one. I don't think Cowher was that great to begin with, and his reputation makes him seem a lot better or more talented than he really is. If/when Ron gets canned, I'd prefer a lot of other coaches over Bill.
