#3036309 Where to Start in the Comic World

Posted by CarolinaCoolin on Yesterday, 09:06 PM

Watch the red hood, justice league doom, batman beyond is a good series if you liked the animated series.

As far as comics, the killing joke and hush are some of my favorites.

There is no reason in this world that deal could not get done with Newton long term

Yes, the panthers could do x and y for a first round pick, but was that the right thing to do

My feeling is no

There are things that can be done in good faith and the panthers have failed that with Newton

Should Newton decide to test free agency, I will find you and remind you of your comments here.

So is every other franchise stupid for also picking up the fifth year option on their first round draft pick from 2011?

There is a reason why they all did and that's because the number is smaller then what it would be if you extend them after year 3. Cam will have his extension before he even gets close to free agenecy.

I really don't think you have a grasp on this situation at all.

Educate yourself.

Why shouldn't he?

Gettleman has not taken care of business with him in an extension

He watches Dalton, kapernick, etc get paid more than they worth while he carries a tine with an oline that could not displace many college oline sand rbs that could not fall forward for a yard.

Now Cam go win

What planet do you live on?

Gettleman picked up the fifth year option which almost every first round player in that draft got to. The reason dalton and Kaep didn't is because they were taken in the second round. Gettleman has been clearly space for cam.

I don't think you actually know what you are talking about here

I wonder how many seasons this show gets and how far into the comics they will go but this show has a bright future ahead if it keeps this up

This is what you deem a successful thread? I'm pretty sure everyone just is so used to seeing threads with a huffpo link and nothing else no one really cares about your threads anymore. I mean when you post like 5 a week all in the same vein people start to just go "meh"

Our health infrastructure can handle this. A lot of chicken littles in this thread.

We've dropped 30+ points our last two games. If the defense plays atleast a fraction of how the played the first two games we win more than we lose.

#3021089 Nfl - nflpa meeting on personal conduct?

Posted by CarolinaCoolin on 14 October 2014 - 03:56 PM

NFLPA said they are standing up for due process of their players and that is more important than the league saving face on media/public pressure. Could effect hardy but nothing solid came from the talks today. They will most likely meet again in November.

#3019213 Trent Dilfer audio for those who wanted to here it.

Posted by CarolinaCoolin on 13 October 2014 - 03:15 PM

Why so sensitive?

What is it that Dilfer said that was so wrong? He never knocks Cam or his ability at all and if you hear that it is because that is what you wanted to hear. He discusses the use of Cam and questions if it is sustainable. He mentions that he played for Shula and talks about his coaching tendencies. He even says that if you have a QB that is 6' 5", 240 lbs, and can run like Cam then maybe running him in those situations is what you should do. He said it is different, and he is right.

Look at this stat line and tell me it's not "different" :

Newton 17 Rushes, 107 yds, 1 TD

Whittaker 9 Rushes, 25 yds, 0 TD's

Reaves 8 rushed, 15 yds, 0 TDS.

Cowherd asked him point blank "were we wrong about cam newton being able to carry a football team" dilfer said no they were wrong and dilfer doesn't believe he can. Thus the outrage.

Fozzy had a td btw

I don't differentiate those things.

As mentioned elsewhere, this is just one we have to disagree on.

That's all well and good you don't agree with a bunch of us on this but don't try to take moral superiority on this issue like the rest of us happy he's not going to be playing are bad people. You do that a lot and it's annoying as fug. You are no better than anyone else.

the bengals are a top 3 team in this league… we are not even top 10. they have every right to predict large win margins.

I refuse to believe there is a 25 point difference between our teams.

45-20 is a fuging joke. That ginger qb is a joke. This game will be a 3 point game. Not a blowout like that. Dalton is always good for atleast one INT a game. If we force him to make mistakes we win.

#3006085 Does Hardy come back after 6 games?

Posted by CarolinaCoolin on 08 October 2014 - 04:16 PM

sponsors can and will pull their support if their bottom line is effected by what one player does or if they feel they don't want to be associated with an organization that is giving that much money to someone who has been found guilty of domestic assault...which is pretty much what the public perception of hardy is and nobody whose money is on the line wants to risk making sponsors unhappy and if we start losing spnsors, the financial value of sponsorships decreases. you can't know that they would be able to continue financially without missing a beat. you can't make everyone happy, but you're damned as an organization if you start losing sponsors/financial support because that stuff can spread like cancer. one drops and others may start to follow suit and while you may have others willing to be sponsors, they may not be willing to pay as much as the ones before them did. in fact i can pretty much guarantee you that point because sponsorships typically go to the highest bidder. one drops out and then you have to settle for the one with the second or third best bid, but now they have a bargaining ship they didn't previously have, which is the absence of someone willing to outbid them. even for sponsorships that aren't bidded on, the value diminshes with less interest or dropped support.

we can and probably would keep going around in circles and i'm too tired to keep it going, but my point would remain this: agree with it or not....like it or not...there is likely a lot more factoring into their decision what to do with hardy than "does hardy help win games".

and to your point about hardy helping win games, he absolutely does, but this past week we found that our defense can adjust to life without him by beating/dominating a pretty stinking good offense. if we can continue to do that, then that in itself brings into question whether or not he's worth the $10mil a year we would likely be signing him to and before you start debating that same argument in regards to say cam or kuechly, i would say that hardy is absolutely not as crucial to this team as either one of those two guys are. but then you add in the drama that is apparently surrounding hardy and it makes the decision to give him that much money that much harder.

i understand where you are coming from, but i also understand that there is more to factor into it than just "does hardy help us win?".

Hardy isnt going to make sponsors drop. There isn't a video of him hitting her. There aren't pictures of the damage he might have done for the world to see. It's his word versus hers. And if you are outside the Carolina market you hardly know who hardy is let alone care anymore at this point.

With the amount you've written in this thread about it I can see what you are pulling even if you don't admit to it which is fine but don't say the decision won't come down to football at the very because it will.

Ravens were ready to stand behind rice the whole way until that second video dropped. He is no where as good to them as hardy is to us.

#3005824 Does Hardy come back after 6 games?

Posted by CarolinaCoolin on 08 October 2014 - 02:05 PM

off field issues can upset sponsors and that can mean less money. they have to factor that i to the equation. they also have to factor in the effect certain players have on the atmosphere in the lockerroom (which can effect wins and losses) and also their financial investment in players and what they do off field can have a negative effect on that investment. anytime off field activities effects a players ability to perform on the field (which effects the wins and losses), it effects their investment. they don't have to put a protective bubble over their players, but it is reasonable that they draw a line as to what is acceptable. if they feel like his off field life will effect his ability to perform, then they have to question whether or not the investment in them is worth it.

right now, you can make a solid argument that our investment in him this year was not worthwhile because things going on in his life interfered. even if he didn't assault that girl and it was just an accusation made by some crazy drugged out woman, you have to question his judgement in those he chooses to be with and the effect it can have on him. that's not to say he can't be friends or relations with whoever he wants, but it has to be realized that he wouldn't be in this situation were it not for his relationship with her and his activites outside the stadium. if he doesn't change his circle of people, or at least some of them, you have to wonder if there might be other incidents he gets stuck in the middle of might effect his ability to perform.

The panthers are worth a billion dollars. The nfl is worth billions of dollars. Sponsors won't pull regardless. To much money for them at stake and they know if they drop there will be a line forming from our companies to take their place not one second after it happens. Which brings it back to football and wins. Hardy helps us win.
