#2737207 Would Gettleman have drafted Cam?

Posted by TheRumGone on 12 April 2014 - 09:01 AM

O I believe he's sold on Cam now, but I don't believe that he was when he took the job, which is why he slow played the offense when he got here and why he's overhauling it now.

My point is that people should realize Gettleman has the benefit of a young core already in place before he arrived. He didn't have to start from scratch like most GM's do. Any new GM will tell you the hardest thing to do is find a qb. He not only inherited a great one, but also got Luke as well. The cap sucked, true but things could have been much worse for him. Who knows what he would have done with that #1 pick, because not every GM would have taken Cam.

what does a new boss do when he comes into an organization or a company? He shows that he is the boss and that everyone has to prove themselves once again. He challenged Cam to take the the team over the hump. He challenged the team to win. Their were reports we were having a coaching search when we were 1-3. What happened after that and what did Cam do? He shined moreso than he had in his first two years minus the stats. The pressure mounted and he responded exactly how you would want a franchise qb to respond. that is exactly what good bosses do, they challenge their employees to be great.

I don't think people think about this the right way. And i don't wanna say that people think race is involved with this old fat man from Boston MA who is old school and Cam is very new school. But some of these posters are coming across very, very stupid, like that Thal poster. Gettleman prizes talented players. Do people honestly think that Gettleman does not think Cam is a once in a generation talent because of a stupid "seven second pause" that the dumbass Joe Person stated?

Gettleman has said time and time again that Hurney left him in a position most GM's dream of player wise, but the cap is a nightmare. Do i think that Gettleman would have picked Cam #1 overall? absolutely because Cam was far and away the best football player in that draft before, during and after. Do people not remember how amazing Cam was in college both with his legs and his arms? I'm of the firm belief that he was the greatest college football player of all time. He was a man amongst boys. And what has Gettleman said about cam's football smarts? I quote, "Cam is a very, very smart kid." Do you think none of this would have shined through during the pre-draft process? I do. And one last thing. When Gettleman first came here he said, "first you need a franchise qb, we have one."

a little bit of rambling but i have been preaching since Day 1 that Gettleman thought Cam was our guy.

They also play a completely different position.

I mean obviously he is not worth the contract he is currently under, but that horse has been beaten to death long ago.

Why are you jumping all over the place?

So to my original point again. He's not worth his contract, his statements are ironic, end of story. That's where most posters are coming from

Of course his salary a part of the problem. So is Charles Johnson's, and Greg Hardy's. All of these guys have a right to speak up though.

You can agree or disagree with what he said without dragging him through the mud.

Those two players perform to their contracts

#2736665 I'm glad this whiny bitch isn't a Panther...

Oh crap. Is that who that is?

Am I the only one who can easily decipher these kinds of things?

Numbers don't lie, but that doesn't mean you get to leave out common sense. 15 sacks is 15 sacks, but you'd be a fool not to acknowledge the rest of it.

you didnt even remotely answer his question.

so you'd be a fool not to acknowledge the rest of it when i comes to greg hardy.

but you wouldn't be a fool not to acknowledge the rest of it when it comes to dlo?

you can't have it both ways.

Panthers fans, meet Thomas DeCoud(#28):

Your coaching staff were pussies. His ass would be on the bench if he pulled that poo on this team. You don't know what ferocious is until you look at keek and kraken and try and tackle like a little bitch. Trust me he will not play like that, Rivera won't let him

Ok so I went back and did a comparison. It's one game so take it for what it's worth. I chose this game because the panthers app lets you look at every drive.
Week 1 Panthers vs Seahawks
Marshawn Lynch-17 carries 43 yards
Denagelo Williams- 17 carries 86 yards

A list of Marshawn Lynch's 17 carries
1. 5 yards
2. 5 yards
3. 7 yards
4. 2 yards
5. 1 yard
6. No gain
7. -3 yards
8. 2 yards
9. 5 yards
10. 4 yards
11. No gain
12. -1 yards
13. -5 yards
14. 2 yards
15. 5 yards
16. No gain
17. 14 yards

Deangelo's 17 carries
1. 5 yards
2. 5 yards
3. 6 yards
4. 4 yards
5. 2 yards
6. 2 yards
7. 2 yards
8. 12 yards
9. 3 yards
10. 3 yards
11. 2 yards
12. 1 yard
13. No gain
14. 3 yards
15. 4 yards
16. 8 yards
17. 16 yards and yea the fumble

You can say that fumble lost us the game but the fact is there were 5 minutes left on the clock and Seattle drove the ball 67 yards to run out the clock. On that last drive our 30 million dollar DE's combined for half a tackle.

Lmfao the opening game, one game of the 2013 season

Why don't you do a spread of five random games

If you can't see how the flow of the game majorly affects play calling while marshawn steadily gains yardage to set up 3rd and short and dwill consistently does not, then there is nothing to discuss . Marshawn opens the playbook wayyyyy more than dwill because of this. Stats doemt show this because of dwills random 30/40 yard gains. Do people not watch the games?

If you can't understand that statement, there's no help for you. No amount of Rum will ever change that.

please SPELL IT OUT FOR ME CAUSE I THOUGHT NUMBERS NEVER LIE LIKE WHEN YOU SAID THAT STUFF ABOUT HOPKINS AND KEENAN ALLEN AND NUMBERS NEVER LIE HE HAD BETTER ROOKIE NUMBERS THAN MEGATRON NUMBERS NEVER LIE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

WR's must get open to get more catches, major difference dumb ass. You don't simply hand the ball off to them.

but i thought you said numbers never lie?

I even bolded it to make it easier for you smh. Numbers don't lie people, as much as you wish they did.

sometimes they do, when you watch the flow of the game. the consistency of the rb. which rb do you think is better

-1 rush

2 rush

-2 rush

3 rush

30 yards rush

or

5 yard rush

6 yard rush

3 yard rush

12 yard rush

6 yard rush

which rb is helping the chains move more? which rb is more consistent? which rb puts us in a better position on 3rd downs? who fights to get that extra yardage more?

if you can't think critically then fine, but there are reasons behind numbers usually. dwill is that spurt kind of rb, he is not a workhorse.

this is what marshawn does. he gives you more options on the play because instead of 3rd and 11 it's 3rd and 5 or 3rd and 6.

when you have a rb that can't consistently gain yardage play in and play out it handcuffs your playcalling on 3rd downs.
