#2863284 The downsides of being rich

Posted by TheRumGone on 24 July 2014 - 12:53 PM

I was more comfortable when I thought that was the case.

lets recap:

i make a joke about slipping a drug known to open peoples minds in his drink. harmless

he threatens to hire somebody to kill me. wow

he then calls me a druggie who is an underachiever while i sit comfortably at 26 years old after quitting my job which i was making double what a normal ,out of college, person makes so i can actually enjoy life.

he then tells me i have no respect for authority. while i sit and laugh and talk to my 12 year vet police detective father on the phone.

he then tells us we are all uneducated. meanwhile we all are, especially some here with phd's and masters.

this guy is a fuging joke and if he is not trolling he needs to figure out what reality is outside of his 9 to 5, minivan driving soccer mom wife and two nerdy kids with 4.0's.

does that sum up this thread?

If valid, it's kind of a Chicken-Egg argument.

Maybe the reason guys are going to smaller schools is because bigger ones didn't trust their durability.

it's also valid to say the reason he went to a smaller school was because he's from Africa and couldn't adjust quick enough for the SAT's.

which was the valid point. for god's sake nick saban gave the stamp of approval on this guy.

I kind of take someone saying that someone else should drug me at one of our tailgates a little seriously.

That's because you are a tightwad.

I've always thought that being SUPER rich would be boring. I've never wanted to win hundreds of millions of dollars via the lottery or by any other means because I would lose focus in life and probably consume my time buying stuff I don't need.

Also like the article mentioned family and friends will come out in packs. I remember when my dad won 1,000 dollars on a scrap off ticket like ten years ago. He made the mistake of telling an aunt, and 10 minutes later his phone literally wouldn't stop ringing. By the end of the day he had 70 dollars left, and he took the family out to eat. I joke about it everytime we talk.

I would rather make 100,000 dollars a year after taxes and loans and live within my means. For some reason that would make me happier. Weird.

I would donate 90% of it to different places. Help my friends who have hefty student loans then just buy a house. I wouldn't even know what to do with that kind of money.

no dude. i said if it was normalized it wouldn't be considered a distraction because no one in the media would give a poo. it would be like a heterosexual player saying they like chicks. dumb. The ones who don't want it normalized are screaming it's a distraction. Can't have it both ways. You can call that whatever you want

the only problem i have had with michael sam is the reality show he agreed upon. and luckily someone in his corner knocked some sense into him.

be like jackie, keep your head down, bust your ass to make the team and go from there. normalize it. show you are just one of the guys. don't answer any questions about your sexuality just play football.

one guy had to be the one to come out before the draft so it is definitive that there are gay players (and not someone who is trying to hide it like kerry rhodes). the trail has been set, now its up to others to go down that same route to the point where nobody cares anymore and we just find out in the news that such and such was out with his boyfriend/husband instead of girlfriend/wife and no one blinks an eye besides stupid people.

31 teams, including the Panthers, felt the same way as Dungy

No stirs people with your mindset is the reason it's considered a distraction. No one would give two shits because everything would be normal and accepted already.

But then we could digress into how you don't thinks it's normal and it shouldn't be accepted (I.e. Taught in schools, parents talking to their kids, ect.)

Two things.

Is it possible that Mitchell is an average safety who looked good in our defensive scheme? Think of Drayton and our UFDA Melvin, as well as the chargers defense out in SD. Rivera has a knack for putting "less than" players and no names into top squads. Could Mitchell be a good young safety that gets better from here? Sure, time will tell, but my money is on that he will struggle without Rivera putting him in the best possible situation to suceed.

Two, if Greg only plays say 8 games, but we went 12-4 again and repeated as NFC South champs and progress further into the playoffs, would that still break gettleman as far as our off season moves? I find it hard to believe people can really criticize gman for this, because at the time, he didn't know the kraken would be a nutcase. If he were to just let him walk, and he turned into the next JJ Watt with some 20 sacks or whatever he had, gman would get a ton of flak for not retaining him.

Food for thought. Perhaps gman didn't trust hardy with a huge long term contract, and he wanted to see if he can repeat without any off the field trouble. 14 sacks and a franchise record is worth 13m in my opinion. Now that I think about it, its almost smart he only did the tag (at the time). Right now obviously it hurts to have a guy on the cap that won't play (maybe we get compensation for that?) But, we have no obligation to come back to him next year.

I'm rambling, not saying you oppose everything I say rum. Lol food for thought everyone

You are one of the more blind faith posters on here.

I think Mitchell has special skills speed plus Mack truck hitting abilities. He's still learning the safety position. He's 26 and was never given the opportunity to play fully in Oakland. People can chalk it up to the front seven but he was put on an island and flourished. He was put in charge of the secondary and flourished. Now that he's left people just say oh but the front seven. I think he is criminally underrated around here now that he's gone.

And if Greg hardy gets suspended for some games our defense is going to suffer. We have major holes/question marks at cb, wr and oline. That tag money could have been used elsewhere. Time will tell but that 13 mill is a big chunk of money that could have been spread around. I don't know how it will play out. I'm optimistic but not blind.

funny it's all lost on people like tony dungy that they are the root of the "distraction" or why it's considered a "distraction"

i think tony dungy is a good man. it's just a shame his religious beliefs are clouding his judgement and i just lost a ton of respect for him.

I agree he was a threat, but did he return anything to the house in the regular season? I know he had a good yards average

Return Tds are great but the field position he gave us was super underrated. Our special teams was one of the best last year. Hopefully we can continue with that cause every bit helps

This biggest thing to worry about with ginn leaving is the pr ko returns. He provided a spark and was dangerous everytime he touched the ball. That was an underrated quality about him and I think well miss it next year
