#3123737 Harbaugh blows off Michigan

The fact is that if he takes another NFL job and it does not work out then college jobs will still be there.  It may not work as well going the other way.

The fact is that Rivera screwed us with the conservative play in the Atlanta game

If you're evaluating bodies of work, how did so much change in one
week for TCU to drop three spots?
Long: "Well in our view, it really didn't change much. I know it looks
like a long drop from three to six, but they were really 3A, 3B, 3C and
3D. I mean, they were that close. They were paper thin, razor thin, all
those cliches you want to use. We tried to share that last week, in that
three through six were very, very close"

that quote makes me think that they were that close last week and that is how TCU fell the spots

of course it does. FSU being defending champs is a huge deal in how people view them. Baylor losing their bowl game last year affects how people view them. TCU not being good last year affects how people view them. If Baylor or TCU was defending national champs, and FSU was the team that went 4-8 last year like TCU or FSU was the team that lost to UCF in the bowl last year like Baylor, people would be looking at them differently

if last year matters then FSU should be number one because they have won twenty nine straight games.

I guess the committee couldn't stay away for the weak ass Big 10.

Look at the resumes for Ohio State, Texas Christian, and Baylor from top to bottom.  I do not see the argument for either Big XII school being ahead of the Buckeyes.

The only place TCU has an edge is their loss is better but their wins are not even close.

Baylor's loss may not be as ugly but losing by fourteen to a five loss team is ugly so that is not a big advantage.  Ohio State has the best pair of victories of any team in the country and Baylor played the easiest OOC schedule in the entire country.  It included an FCS school, a team that won one game, and Buffalo.  They did not even try.  Add in garbage opponents Iowa State and Kansas and almost losing to a bad Texas Tech squad as well as their loss and seven of their twelve games are negatives.

When the Big XII almost fell apart a few years back before Texas decided not to join the Pac-12 and A&M, TTU, OU, and OSU stayed with them Colorado decided to bolt anyway.  The big, unintended winner in the whole thing turned out to be Utah as they went from not involved at all to getting into the Pac-12.

Not sure who the big unintended winner today but I think Central Florida is a definite possibility.  Three days ago I would have said maybe Colorado State as well.

"Big 12 - No True Champion."

Sorry TCU and Baylor, your conference fuged you.

They really misread this situation.  Bowlsby is a fool.

My Final 4

1 Oregon

2 Alabama

3 TCU

4 Baylor

Screw both OSU and FSU schedule better teams next time.

By the way, both Florida State and Ohio State had higher ranked schedules than both Baylor and Texas Christian

I do not really buy into SOS in college so much but seriously, outside of TCU, Baylor, and K-State playing each other they really did not play much and the middle and bottom of their schedules were worse than the other four.  Yeah Alabama played WCU, FSU played The Citadel, etc. but TCU and Baylor played a lot of crap.

Alabama

Oregon

Florida State

Ohio State

Baylor

Texas Christian

I think they made the right choice

And the selection committee helped him out by ranking TCU #3 and Baylor #6 after Baylor beat TCU.

this is true. At that point though Baylor had not beaten Kansas State yet so the resumes were not as close as they are today.

Maybe next year they'll go to an 8 team playoff. Heck, FCS playoffs have 24 teams playing.

If they did that and guaranteed ask five conference champions a spot then it would take care of most controversy. Any team not in the top right and not a conference champion had nothing to complain about. The only potential controversy would come from group of five teams

so you want the Big XII to add some crap teams and water themselves down like the Big 10 did? Why? So everyone can get closer to the crappy ACC model? How is that good?

PAC-12 added Colorado and Utah. Are you saying Oregon would have been better off had the conference not watered itself down there? No of course not because then they would not have added Arizona to their resume.

having a CCG allows us to compare apples to apples. And the Big XII is not that great. They have some really bad teams at the bottom. Adding a team like UCF would make the talent quality better.

Having a CCG would have added to TCU resume if they had beaten Baylor yesterday instead of Iowa State.

and would be a blockbuster game that all college football fans will be salivating about

I for one would not be salivating. If they leave out an undefeated power five team then the whole thing is a farce and I likely will not watch any of the games
