#2243068 Nice Article on Kuechly "Composing" our Defense (NFL.com)

Posted by ladypanther on 26 May 2013 - 06:43 PM

Beason willingly has ceded his leadership role because he believes the 2012 NFL Defensive Rookie of the Year is already "the best in the league" at middle linebacker. "You look at Luke and you say this kid is exceptional -- this kid can play," Beason said last month. "So I'm like, well let's get out there and be great together."

Props to Beason. That is an amazing attitude.

Your 94 yr old grandmother is a rare exception, and I'm sure you know that. Have you ever seen anyone in the late stages of lung cancer? It is horrible.  Keep that image in mind...will help remind you why you are doing this.

Use nicotine gum if you need to.  Otherwise use sugar free gum and hard candies to keep your mouth busy.

Have a plan to use when stressed.

Exercise is great.  Also, do some meditation.  Meditation breathing can be a great help when cravings hit.

Hoping the best for you.  It is a very tough thing to do.  Congrats on making the decision. You sound like you will make it.

#2242257 Am I the only one that wants us to be a conservative ground and pound offense?

The offense needs to be versatile. If the O-line is decent , we should be. TOP is important but the team must finish drives. The red zone offense has to produce.

The run game needs to be effective from day 1. Also, Shula needs to call a good game and not be predictable.  This year will tell if Shula is ready. He has his chance.  Hope he makes the best of it.

#2236503 Gettlemen continues to get criticism for not bringing in a WR

The Panthers have a real football guy who is known as a great talent evaluator as GM. I say we give him the benefit of the doubt and see how that works out.  He said in one of his first interviews was that his job was to make everyone better. I am counting on Ron being his primary focus.

Also am hoping that Shula will have a better game plan than Chud. Based on the results in the last half of last year, I think that is very likely.  Cam needs to work on his touch on short passes and check downs. I think the offense will be good this year.  ST was improved, the D was improved. There is a lot of talent on this team.

I predict we are going to love Gettleman.

A bus driver has no business hugging kids.  Never heard of one kissing them.  There are codes of conduct....I am sure he has violated them.  Do not call the school....schools have a bad history of protecting pedophiles,  Call DSS,  NOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! PLEASE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Reporting is anonymous and they will investigate.

I always believed this would happen.  Gettlemen saved the timing of it until now for a reason.

Let's just hope that Shula can make better use of our RB talent.

Spell check would be good, but what I would really like is something to fix some posters' grammar.

Some browsers will provide spell check here. Google Chrome and Firefox will give you spell check.

#2229389 Mike Smith-commencement speaker

Posted by ladypanther on 12 May 2013 - 06:28 PM

Yesterday I attended the college graduation of my nephew at ETSU.  (I am also an alumnus). The commencement speaker was Mike Smith, head coach of the Atlanta Falcons.  Smith is an alumnus of ETSU, player linebacker there from '77-'81.

I give him a D+ on his speech.  He was very self promoting. He seemed out of place.  He quoted Steve Jobs....first called him  Steven...then corrected himself....10 secs later called him Steven again.  He quoted MLK ( a nice quote about our obligation to help those less fortunate) ...it included a couple of words with more than 2 syllables which he stumbled over....so he said, let me repeat......

If he had not been so self promoting, it would have been a better speech. (The person who introduced him told of his accomplishments.  That should have been enough.) By the way,he was in Tn. Tn has an NFL team. My guess is Tn fans don't like hearing about the Falcons/Smith accomplishments any more than I did. (Or his name dropping)

After the graduation we went out to eat. My nephew who graduated, and his older brother (who live in TN and do not have the same feeling about the Falcons as I do) also said they were disappointed that Smith promoted himself and the Falcons too much.

I expected a better speech, even thought I would probably like the guy.  Wish he had been better for my nephew and all the others had worked so hard to earn their degrees.

#2197646 Car sales revisited

Posted by ladypanther on 17 April 2013 - 07:56 PM

I have been working in car sales since 3/11. This is a whole new career to me. I went with a company who has a training program and says they do things the right way.

I was so burned out with my previous career (human services....the clients not the problem, but the systems). I also wanted a chance to make some money...work hard and be rewarded. A new concept.

So, I work for a good company. The owner has several dealerships. He conducts our meeting every Mon morning. He talks about doing things the right way. His rule 101 is the golden rule...although he does not preach religion, just talks about treating people right.

He gives fair market value for trade ins and charges a fair price for his cars...usually below market value. His philosophy is to be a volume dealer...make a little on a lot vs a lot on a little.

So....just want to say, research the dealership, not just the car. I have seen people leave because we would not discount the car (we were at bottom price...they drove 2 hrs to look because of great price) because they think everyone inflates the price and should haggle. Some do, but do your research. ( I have already seen other dealerships have the same car priced 3-4000 more than ours...of course they offer more on the trade in. Often their bottom line is not better, but people get fooled on their trade in price).

I have seen that some here said they would not answer the question about what payment they were looking for. Well, where I am....that does not affect the price of a car. It just helps me direct the person to something that they might want/afford. It is common for people to be looking at a $600 payment car when all they can afford is $250. Also...bad credit people are more likely to get a new car with a rebate (esp if they have little or no down payment).

After only a couple of weeks in car sales, I commented to one of my mentors that the rep of car sales people was that we are dishonest, but it seems that customers are more dishonest. He (and he is a gentle, wonderfully honest guy who has been there 13 yrs) responded....buyers are liars.

I have had people lie to me about their trade -in. (We do a car fax check) Those seems to be the people who trust us the least when we show them we actually are charging 2-3000 dollars less than retail value for what they want to buy. Liars trust no one, even honest people.

Where I work, just before I started, they fired a top sales person for lying to a customer.

So there is honor where you do not expect to find it. We are not all alike. I will not lie or deceive. In my interview I said I wanted to be able to feel good about what I did and I wanted to do things the right way. I have gotten very nice feed back from my supervisors.

So, please do not judge all of us ( car salesman) alike. Research the dealership and the sales person. I give all of my customers my cell phone no. I got 2 calls today on my day off and I took care of them.

I love my job. I work with really nice people. I get to meet a lot of people....all so interesting. It is so neat to help someone get their first new car. If they can't get a car....I stay in touch.....hopefully together we can find a way for them to get what they need. Even if that does not happen, I get to meet so many nice people. (There are some jerks...but thankfully, they are the minority)

So........all cars sales people are not alike,or are not what you think. If you want to double check a price on what you are trading in or what you are buying...I can check that for you. Just let me know.

I am happier than I have been in years. I have 2 days off each week (am of every Sun...so does not interfere with Panther games).

Please contact me if I can help with any car questions.

Did I mention that I love my job?
